  1. speed of travel is important? on Cosmic Radiation Speeds up Aging in Space? · · Score: 1

Using an astronaught is not a large sample and would make a highly speculative study.

Secondly, at the speed of light the aging process does not slow down. The rate at which I age is constant but you may view me as not having aged.

Lastly, would cosmic rays have a greater or lesser impact on your relative aging? If travelling at 90% instead of 50% of the speed of light increase my chances of being viewed as aging faster?

Maybe my questions are answered in the article but I tried to read it and my head exploded...

Many of the the 20 top inventions include a description along the lines before the west discovered it, Islamic person found X. I can't help but think whoever put this list of 1001 invention is bitter over not being properly credited with historical discoveries. Is this a list about inventions or someone with a bruised ego trying to rewrite history?

My company passed on osCommerce. When compared against other commercial products, the cost to customize osCommerce outweighed the purchase of a better, commercial solution. For us, that was http://www.elasticpath.com/. Everyone's mileage may differ but it seems like the most prevelant complaint about osCommerce is the unexpected cost to customize it. You're going to encounter this anywhere. Fortunately for us, spending money up front did decrease our overall costs.

  10. Blingo, affiliate sites, MLM on Search Engines' Reward Programs · · Score: 1

There are two different stories going on here. One is search engines. MSN & A9(amazon) offer rewards for users of their search engine. Rewards are fully sponsored by search engine companies marketing budgets. This is new. Another story going on here are affiliate sites. Blingo is an affiliate site as is GoodSearch.com. These sites generate revenue by selling their traffic (or so it seems). Blingo will earn a few cents when users click on a sponsored links. Blingo adds another player into this multi level marketing scheme going on. It's not like Blingo is doing the world a favor by passing on free rewards - rather they're passing on a part of their commissions to their users.

This may seem like a distinction without a difference but look at it from an advertisers experience. Would you rather buy clicks on MSN where users are there to search products or would you rather buy clicks from Blingo where users are there only to rack up clicks and receive free iPods? Obviously Blingo & GoodSerach.com are going to generate poor quality traffic. Many companies already do this: ebates, upromise, everyfreegift.

Just because he plays Warcraft, does that necessarily mean Warcraft is accepted as a good place to talk shop? Yahoo and likely MSN already gave in to the government so the government probably has what it needs. Google has nothing to gain but a moral victory. In addition I do not think this is a Bush administration thing as much as it is the government. Echelon for example is part of a system that has been spying on people for decades. Republican or Democrat, that type of activity is will continue. Given the Bush seems to abuse power more than most administrations, the notion that the government can lawfully spy on anyone started long before Bush.
