Yes, you are right; in the short term, the price of these cards will definately drop in the short term, because there will be no shortage of AGP cards to go around.
Down the road however, prices may be artificially inflated (by a small amount) due to a lack of new AGP cards. How much of a difference this makes, I guess we'll see.:)~
I'm sorry, but George will never back down on this one. By releasing the original versions, he would be admitting that the original versions have some qualities which are superior to the updated ones.
George Lucas strikes me as being very arrogant, so why would he go out of his way to look like even more of a buffoon?
Hell no it's not! We're talking about good film-making versus idiotic, pansy, sterilized film-making. It's scenes like these that make the original so great.
George Lucas thought the scene between Han Solo and Greedo in the cantina made Han cold blooded. Let's think about the original scene, shall we? Greedo the bounty hunter is holding Han at gunpoint and says in his gurgly argot that he is going to kill him. Han shoots Greedo through the table before Greedo can blow Han a new smuggling hatch. That's makes Han cool-- not cold.
I didn't have a clue that was ever the case (hey, I was young when I watched both versions! heh). This really does astound me, though. Lucas is a goddamned moron, and really has no clue how to make a compelling story anymore. So sad.
Actually, playing a game of poker with these glasses would be neat. Playing a game where everyone knows what the lie detector says... but who chooses to bet on its integrity?:o
Yeah, I totally agree here. well, mostly agree; I have noticed that I really do like *some* noise, but not a ton of noise. I used to have a 60mm 7000 RPM Delta fan on my processor; that thing was a bitch. I do get bothered when I can't easily hear classical/relaxing type music.:)~
Oh yeah, don't ever try to lick a 7K RPM fan. not that I know from personal experience (I still have use of my tongue):O
... yet one of my systems constantly locks up even if midly overclocked... Do I spend $100 extra or do I spend 12 hours mucking with my BIOS?
Well, here's the thing: first, you have to have good parts. Unless you have good quality RAM, a properly cooled processor, and a decent power supply, you probably won't be able to overclock very much. To your second point, you can get a 10-20% increase in speed by overclocking, and once you know most of the tricks to overclock, you can probably fix your machine up in about an hour.
Yes, you can, but there isn't a good infrastructure for this at the moment. The talk radio that people want to listen to is on the radio. And there isn't a cheaper or easier way of delivering content than our current system. So until there is a need for something to replace radio, (e.g. the internet), then radio will stay with us.
Well, you say they're "all great CPU's," but there seems to be quite a large margin between these machines in most of the tests (Photoshop excluded, heh). But it remains fairly obvious to the outside viewer that any of the Intel / AMD options will be faster than the comparable G5, and cheaper as well.
And from the standpoint, the only reason anyone would pick the Mac over the PC would be OS X.
Honestly, I don't think that Rob's article does the situation justice; the write-up at [H]ardOCP really does some great investigative reporting, and I think they are right on the money.
Not to mention the economic side of things... so this 'company' has raised $25 million in cash. Who cares? Microsoft loses 10 times that amount on the Xbox every quarter. So, this console would be entering a market where there are already three big players [struggling] to hold on.
Entering this market would be rediculously stupid.
it only really ran stuff like DXBall, Quake1 and Myth2.
Heh, well, Myth 2 was a simultaneous port, and Quake 1 came not too much later, maybe a year and a half after the original came out.;) That was a good turnaround time back in those days!
does any one know how they managed to do this? Did the guys just capture it off their TV and then added voice overs?
sort of, yeah. I know there are a few effects they added by using a video-editing program, which adds a nice touch.
This really isn't an uncommon thing... there are certain people on the web who have a FETISH with making Halo videos (heh). These are very high quality and very entertaining, though.;)

This is the same reasoning that I use when I run the Folding@Home distributed project versus SETI.
An online survey of more than 3,500 users who saw the ads found that just 28% said they were annoying
One of out four of those people is me.
Maybe these can double as hand-warmers in the winter?
But who's to say these 300 winners aren't legitimate?

If this isn't the theatrical version I (and probably everyone else) will pass for obvious reasons.
More like, everyone _should_ pass. Unfortunately, I'm sure these DVD's are going to sell like hotcakes.

I know it's super nerdy to complain about it

Greedo did not shoot first.
Wow, I actually had no idea what this was referring to... so of course I google'd, and found the whole sordid story.
From a fan site:

It's ok if the lie detector is only 90% accurate; racial profiling can fill in the gaps.
That thing is ghetto. To quote Tony the Tiger, it's greeeeeeeeeeeat!

When when the politicians realize they've created a monster?

Robots dont form unions.
Yet.
Ok, at best there will be a 5-10% improvement. Does that really displace the times or scores that were nearly twice as slow as competitors?

Yeah, gotta hate those karma-whoring AC's.

I'd rather just search for Miss Universe instead.
