That is very interesting and all but I don't see how that would stop them from producing working CD's that were just a bit smaller then the standard. I mean a 115mm CD would work just fine in a Cd drive these days without too much hastle.
Furthermore if the 115mm cd's were first to the market most CD players would have a 115mm depression to support them even better.
Dude I realise your trolling with the rest of the crap, but if you aren't getting your prostate checked regularly you are taking stupid risk.
Here's a tip, find an attractive doctor to do it, then it isn't "gay".
Here's an idea, how about providing Government health care that everyone must pay a tax for. Then if you want private health care you can take out the insurance and be exempt from the tax. 9/10 people won't bother with the private health care and there will be plenty of tax money to take care of everyone.
"Don't you feel like you're being ripped off paying for the health care of jobless people when you're busting a gut earning a living?" As I am living in a country that has a similar system I guess that makes me one of those people busting my gut supporting the unemployed. So I feel qualified to Answer.
I don't care, in fact I'm happy knowing that people in my country get medical care when they really need it, yes our system could be better and the care could be more extensive but it is there when you really need it. If people get into a car crash and lose a loved one the last thing that they need is the added burden of paying a hospital bill at the end of it. I'm also reasonably sure that stressing over debt doesn't make a ideal recovery environment for a sick person.
I'm not buried in tax to support this system either, how much do I pay? 1.5% of my taxable income, something like $10 a week, if that. I know for a fact this is cheaper then most private health insurance companies offer here, and I have the peace of mind knowing that one day if I get super sick someone is going to take care of me, I know my children will have a full set of vaccinations when they need them and I know that I'm STD free because I got tested for all of them (well the big ones) for free. If I wanted to go to a doctor tomorrow I could call them in the morning and be in that afternoon, no money necessary, I can also choose my doctor.
Oh and before people ask, if you get private health insurance guess which tax you don't have to pay?
The system works, no it isn't perfect but it is a damn sight better then the US system.
I'm sorry but I'm going to have to call bullshit.

Currently Counterstrike and Counterstrike source make up around 8 billion minutes of play time per month. Steam has 3,046,980 unique players per month on average, and I'd hazard a guess and say the 95% of them play CS at least some of the time. Counterstrike is an 8 year old game, and it is still getting that level of play. Sorry but there is no way that SMB has had more play time.
Its a GSM phone, why the hell do you need to activate it? Every other phone in the world just needs a your old sim card inserted and a full battery charge.
I love the dupes, I love the wildly inaccurate summaries, I love the shameless self promotion of submitters and I especially love the crappy speling, and, grammar,
The phone still has a SIM card but the phones are locked to the AT&T network. Rest assured it will be precisely 3 seconds after launch before you are able to unlock the phone using applications downloaded from the net.
I'm reasonably sure that in this day and age most reasonably sized towns would have a post office that you would be able to get a money order from. Further to that, I'm reasonably sure that it is quite a rare for a university campus not to have a post office.
No it's not, there is precisely zero reason a company would roll out regional broadband. It just isn't cost effective and I doubt it would turn a profit for many years.
taking 4.7 billion from the Future Fund is a direct abuse of powers
They aren't just going to take the money out and blow it, they are investing in the infrastructure, meaning they expect to get some return on that money. Assuming their plan works I think it would be safe to say it could prove very profitable.
I think this story is a great spot to point out that once again Telstra has taken down their online polls on their propaganda site because it wasn't swinging their way. When will they just accept that people hate their service, and that having an American group running the show is just adding insult to injury.
While this would certainly be a great improvement for Australia I have to wonder if we will have enough offshore bandwidth to keep up with the demand this network will create.
Australian offshore bandwidth is in short supply after Telstra gave everyone access to 8mbps ADSL1 plans, I can only see this getting worse.
As far as a short term solution I think it is time that the Government reformed library laws to allow an "Australian Online Library" that hosted television shows and movies for the country. It wouldn't be popular with the media companies, but then again Australia is its own nation so there isn't much they could do about it.
I know it would never happen but it would be sweet.
Yeah and sneaker-netting files about the office is going to take off in a big way again.

Perhaps I'm missing something.

You mean the guy who did this didn't just spend 16 flawless minutes doing incredibly difficult moves with pixel perfect accuracy every time?
I'm shocked!

Yeah but it is much too easy to finish.

That is what makes Slashdot great.

Are you kidding? Our head of state was placed in power by the grace of God Himself. George W Bush just says that he was.... wait a sec.
Don't worry I'm sure there is a book somewhere that tells us how to do all of that stuff.
EB games have a seven day no questions asked money back policy on game purchases.

Get a money order and be done with it.

Actually if you lived a stones throw away from the exchange you would be getting 24mbps with ADSL2
However if it does turn out to be true that 99% of Australians could get broadband if they so desired then that would be a very positive step.
While this would certainly be a great improvement for Australia I have to wonder if we will have enough offshore bandwidth to keep up with the demand this network will create. I think I speak for most Australians that post here when I say that I'll believe it when I'm connected to it.
