god, people can't even read some simple documentation.
Yeah, like yourself. This is straight from the most basic of the Google search instructions found here:
"The Basics of Google Search
To enter a query into Google, just type in a few descriptive words and hit the 'enter' key (or click on the Google Search button) for a list of relevant web pages. Since Google only returns web pages that contain all the words in your query, refining or narrowing your search is as simple as adding more words to the search terms you have already entered. [...]
Google ignores common words and characters such as "where" and "how", as well as certain single digits and single letters, because they tend to slow down your search without improving the results. Google will indicate if a common word has been excluded by displaying details on the results page below the search box.
If a common word is essential to getting the results you want, you can include it by putting a "+" sign in front of it. (Be sure to include a space before the "+" sign.)"
Fucking idiot.

I think the big question is, how can we get small game studios back? Is it really not possible for a small team to make commercial games? I'm sure a lot of game developers (programmers, artists etc.) would work for a lower salary at a nicer place. And I deeply believe better games would be coming out of a smaller and more laid back studio, though perhaps not as often.
Yes, I can see where this fails, the money. But surely there must be a way to change the current development? The game market seems bigger than ever, do people really only care for the huuge games made by EA & co?

...and if they lay people off, you're doing those workers a favor anyhow
Look, they're not slaves at that place, they can quit anytime they want. I don't think they'd be happy to loose their jobs.
First, there might be licensed stuff in the Winamp source, codecs for different fileformats or whatnot.
Second, iTunes is one if the good guys, we don't wanna kill that!
Yes, the plus sign on google is only used to force a search for "common words", which are otherwise filtered out. These are usually simple words like are, is, how, what etc.
The cables will stay the way you fold them without glue or anything, especially the 80 wire cables. The older 40 wire cables are a bit softer, but still OK. You should always use 80 wire cables anyway.
OK, this story was about flat cables inside computer cases, but what the heck. I like to keep the cables behind my desk tied up nicely. Makes the whole setup look tidier, and it's a lot easier to clean. Yeah, clean. I know, I'm weird.
What are you talking about? Microsoft has really nice interfaces in most of their products. Yes, there are exceptions, but they are better than most. Perhaps not as good as Apple, but not far from it.
I don't think the bank manager had a clue about the brand of ATM:s, since it doesn't really matter. Honestly. He told you that they guarantee all transactions so that you'd feel safe even if they were running crap ATM's. If someone hacks the ATM and steals all your money, you'll get it back from the bank. So what's the big deal?
I wonder if he thinks his movies are any good himself. I mean, I work with a programmer who has absolutely no common sense when it comes to interface design. He throws together the worst crap you've ever seen, and than sais something like "yeah, this looks really good, doesn't it?". Uh, no, it doesn't, and it breaks about every interface design rule there is.
But do you really think the secret service changed the website? Very unprofessional of them in that case... IMHO a more appropriate action would have been to just take it down.
Mac fans don't want any competition for Apple. They want everybody to use macs, and tries to make all their friends buy Apple stuff.
Believe me, I do:-)
Ever heard of allofmp3.com? It's based in Russia, and from what I've read it wouldn't be legal in an awful lot of other countries. It might still be illegal for you to download the music, but it's not illegal for them to share the material.
LATFP (look at the fucking picture)! That thing doesn't have any guns or anything, and I don't think it will any time soon. The only way it could kill someone is by running them over, and that happens with humans behind the wheel too.
They clearly state that they will NOT be using multiple images, and that the 3D objects will be displayed in mid-air, like outside a store window. No, I can't see how that would work, but your description doesn't fit in. By the way, here is a link to the prduct you're talking about.
That's your opinion, I always prefer quality over price. Why buy the cheapest piece of shit you can find, if it's only gonna give you headaches? I've bought some cheap stuff and some expensive stuff throughout the years. I've almost always been disappointed by the cheap stuff and really happy about the expensive stuff. But then of course there are exceptions.
Found this a few comments down:
"I have an Archos that does video and music, and I hate it. Clunky interface, heavy, and over all, just poor design.I take my iPod everywhere and I get a TON o use out of it."

Come on, I've been doing this for years without even thinking about it, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Like, wooow, you can actually fold the cables! :-)

Oh my god nooo! The story wasn't posted on Slashdot the INSTANCE it was published! What kind of crap news website is this??
At least be happy it's not a dupe for crying out loud...
What are you talking about? It shows the exact opposite!
I don't! I swear! MS would never let programmers design interfaces :-)

Hey, there't two "second" in that sentence! I wonder who's the drunkard...

I always liked the name YELP since it's as close to an english pronounciation of the swedish word for 'help' ('hjälp') you can get :-)
Segway polo can be played quite well with the two-wheeled model.
