Correct me if I am wrong...but shouldn't they be protesting the record companies. Isn't the DRM Apple applies to iTunes tracks one of the things Apple had to agree to to get the record companies on board with the initial launch of iTunes?
Well, I'm at work and only scanning the posts on this thread, so I may have missed the point. Wasn't my kneejerk reaction in response to a criticism of the Mac interface?
Asking out of ignorance: How is 300 items on the desktop (on Mac or Windows) any different than 300 items in any other folder? How is the desktop folder any different than any other folder as a potential drag on performance (or start up time - assuming you had a folder other than the desktop with 300 items in it open when you restart)?
Personal shield to protect against high speed projectile weapons but vulnerable to slow bladed attacks. Don't hit a sheild with a lazgun or a deadly reaction takes place.
Every weapon has a strength and a vulnerability. Someone skilled with a light saber can deflect a laser attack but must be within striking range to inflict any damage. On the other hand, someone armed with a laser gun is purely offensive and has no defense against a light saber or otherwise.
I was just curious why the mini would be attractive to a vj when you still need some sort of screen you would need to lug around. Wouldn't an iBook make more sense. I don't vj so, enlighten me.
There was a period a while back where Apple looked around and saw that if the apps they wanted were going to be written, they would have to do it on their own. Yes, the beginnings of FCP preceed Apple but the end product, after Apple put their stamp on it, was bait to drive more hardware sales. I don't see iTunes as anything different. Apple has even stated that it exists A) because they thought they could make a better experience and B) to drive iPod and subsequently, computer sales. Is Apple committing some sort of monopolistic action when they limit FCP to Apple hardware? If not, how is it wrong to limit iTunes to the iPod?
Minis work great with a KVM and an existing PC set-up.

just like Windows propensity for closing the application instead of the document if you click on the wrong close box?
What year are YOU counting from?
Hmmm, did any BMW's in the 70's roll off the showroom floor with 8-track already installed?
I know, I know. But give me a version without any David Lynch involvement or "made-for-TV" caliber acting/direction.
So much for backwards compatibility.

So what's your point?
That's just sick and cruel. Somebody call the CPA.
You want them to call a "Certified Public Accountant"?
no, just hypocrites who became addicted to pain killers because of back pain.
How do you "watermark" a computer?
Why is this such a common mistake? No, I'm not a grammar or spelling Nazi but this one seems to be all over the place on /.
Otherwise, she might have gotten Otellini to cry.

How is that cost different than the cost of a Windows upgrade on a cheap Intel/AMD box?
I don't see Windows users complaining about the cost of the OS as compared to their hardware. By your logic, I think they should.
Can we develop a dashboard widget that will line them up and shoot them "automagically?"
It could even line them up by zip code or time zone. Maybe according to their stock symbol.
...on Windows, it's not an exploit "but a feature"!
A friend and I once spent a day trying to install Jaguar onto a vanilla Mac. It's not always foolproof.
I remember the fruit colored iMacs. Which one was vanilla?

The original colonists survived because they had slave labor obtained at little or no cost and contradicting any modern notion of supply and demand.
Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't Apple's DRM implementation a way of getting the music conglomerates on board?
How about this: name one president in the past 50 years who wasn't wealthy 4 years after leaving office.
