  1. Re:Nintendo on Cultural Blinders Lead to Nintendo Fallacy · · Score: 1

I don't own a Gamecube or Xbox, but I have two PS2's One has a Linux kit in it (and that's all it does is run Linux) and the other has the FFXI HD in it and is just for games. I have 32 titles for it.

The reason I don't own a Gamecube (yet) is because I can think of only 3 games that I would want to play on it. The two Metroids and Animal Crossing. Admittedly I'll probably buy one used cheap in the future like how I didn't buy an N64 till after the Gamecube was out.

Something similar applies for the Xbox, I can think of about 5 games, The two KOTOR's, the two MechAssaults, Morrowind and Steel Battalion that really appeal to me.

I used to love Nintendo, several of my favorite games are SNES games. But when a former fan can actually say that the Xbox (shudder) appeals more to him than a Gamecube it's getting bad.

I don't want connectivity gimmicks to make me buy one of Nintendo's real cash cows, the handhelds. I want online play. I want RPG's and lots of them. I want to be able to buy any ole keyboard and plug it in. I want First person shooters to actually support mouse aim even if I still use an analog stick to move. I want a good controller that works fine with all genre's.

The PS2 gives me that, odds are the PS3 will give me more of that.

There are those who say, Nintendo makes the best games. They make good games, yes, but the defining games in the genre that Nintendo used to be known for aren't Nintendo's anymore.

Name the defining platformers of the current console generation: They're PS2 titles. Three Jak & Daxter's, Three Ratchet and Clanks, two Sly coopers.

It's kind of sad that if you want to play good platformers and LOTS of them, you don't want a Nintendo machine.

In ads for PC's a DVD drive is mentioned as "letting you watch or burn movies" rather than letting one store lots of data or installing software with only one disc.

It is possible for the Rebels to win on Hoth (in multiplayer). They need to take down those AT-AT's though, with the speeders and tow cables for a quicker takedown. The speeders are difficult to fly due to their speed. All of the fighter craft are a bit too fast to use effectively to support ground troops. They could fix the problem with something like "cruise control" so that if you slow your vehicle down it stays slow until you speed it up.

One other thing, a lot of people don't know that in addition to the tow cable the guy in the rear also has some kind of blaster to shoot.

And you need to keep your control points. And use those turrets. A couple of the black dish turrets can take down an AT-ST.

I sure wish that the Rebels had those Combat Speeders they have on Rhen Var on Hoth.

That's another thing, smart players escort those AT-AT's on Hoth and Rhen Var with AT-ST's and those IXT tanks.

I've only played the console versions (SNES and PSone) and prboom on the PS2 Linux kit. Personally I think the PSone version is my favorite, but they altered the levels a bit. I actually liked the SNES version, it uses the FX2 chip which is how it is able to run at all. Has interesting music.
