Is there any real need for this? Realistically it is going to have very little impact on the average user.
This will affect DNS customers not consumers. DNS is a purchased service (not a product) Businesses are its customers, users are its' consumers. Verisign wants to make a positive impact on its' customers to turn more revenue.
I was just starting to enjoy my corrspondence to that poor cancer ridden Zimbabwean, who happens to be trapped in space!
Too bad you didn't talk longer. You would have found out that due to an invasion his government was anihilated and he was the only survivor. He doesn't have a bank account and I am helping out with a VERY large transaction. Savvy?
I agree. A while back we were upgrading our Unixware servers and got invited to a resellers function where many people were spouting Darls script. At the time my boss thought linux = atari or something. Afterwards, he said "wow, they're a bunch of rabid nuts" regarding the scox team. We upgraded to RH Enterprise.
Thanks, Darl...you make Linux what it is
The gains you might think you'll get by using Debian are absolutely not worth losing your service contract, which you've likely already paid for.
Absolutely. Also, consider this, if for any reason Debian fails to meet your needs. It is a thin branch that you and you alone stand on. Allegedly, no one has ever been fired for buying IBM. Buying IBM includes the whole package up to a supported OS. Another point, if you have a hardware problem and are running Debian it will be up to you to prove that it is hardware to IBMs satisfaction.
I run a half dozen IBM X235s with a mix of RedHat, Winders and (ick) Sco. IBM supports them all and supports them well.
How about a political moderation. To be fair perhaps plus 1 politically insightful and minus 1 political flame. Many posts having to do with things like privacy issues may seem insightfulk but due to a political bend end up being modded offtopic or otherwise. This would allow us to browse those if we are so inclined. Politics is a big part of many IT / tech peoples lives.
The horse occupies a special place in modern society. We view it as the carriers of roman invaders. The transportation of the american frontiersman. Specialised groups breed and cherish the horse. We will never see the eyes of the world on Kentucky for a "Floppy Disk" event.
Seems that MS can't even design a retail website without plagerizing Apple's UI.
If it aint broke, don't fix it. Steve Jobs has been Microsofts unifficial director of research and innovation for years and this has been enormously profitable for MS. Why would they fire him now?:-)
The statement was not 'advocating' anything if you read it a couple more times. It is 'implying' something. If you read it quickly it seems a bad implication, but after a couple of reads I do not think it is bad. I think the implication is that law enforcement is NOT basing their enforcement on looks (though Ashcroft personally advocates profiling and it has been declared legal).
Oh ye of little experience..."Why just yesterday, a study came out showing that in the tech industry..mmhm the tech industry, job security is at its' all time highest."
Umm yeah. Apparently you are missing users. Otherwise you would know why Activex controls which need local permissions to do bad things are bad. I have users and they tell me things like: "Um I got a message saying that w32.sasser was trying to get to the internet, but the fire thingy was blocking it and do I want to put out the fire thingy...but I clicked OK and now I think I fixed my sasser"
I don't work with the UA string but here is something nobody likes to see on/. VB CODE IN YOUR FACE
Wscript.echo "Service Pack: " & objOperatingSystem.ServicePackMajorVersion _
& "." & objOperatingSystem.ServicePackMinorVersion
I almost used the BLINK tags for that one:-) The above VB put into a script will echo the SP level and I think you can do it remotely on VB I have only the MSNSK certification (Microsoft novice script kiddie:-)
Yes, that is not nearly as honest as "RIAA uses lawsuits to break up international piracy ring" when the article (not this article, this is a hypothetical but likely example) then tells about two teens in new york and one in canada who were swapping files. The media will always spin. Without writing the whole story above the story there is no way to avoid a spin.
A program to slow the spread of viruses and it does not work on Windows. So basically, if you can run this program you will (by nature of not running windows) not contribute to the spread of viruses and worms. BRILLIANT!
This is the LEAST confusing rate ever...1 GB per GB....It takes one gigabyte of transfered data (time) to transfer 1 GB data (amount) thus the rate is 1 GB:-)

It isn't...is it. Somebody get Jeff Goldblum off the set of Rocky meets Jurassic Park...The Final Franchise. We need experience.
It's a lot bigger of a gamble for Apache to ignore MSFT than it is for MSFT to ignore Apache.
Good point!!! Because Apache has Billions of dollars invested in their product. Whereas Windows is mainly just a free download.

it just wont be a direct "ME" benefit to everyone
My first thought seeing the title of your post was....even MS doesn't look for ME benefits. ME is dead. Glad to see I was off track.
the only incentive beyond pure altruism I can see for becoming a cop is the power trip.
My brother is a deputy in a small town, because he likes to drive fast and carry guns. Scary.
What are you advocating here exactly?

Well-kempt geeks?? *guffaw*
MCSEs
In other news Longhorns arrival was postponed until 2012 so it can ship secure.
Snoochums Boochums, brutus
Can anyone explain exactly what will be in Longhorn, now that the new filesystem and graphics system is not going to be in it ?
All the great features of Windows 2003 plus the addition of a NEW logo and desktop theme!!!!
Am I missing something?

Refer back to the existing chapters often...
Doesn't this attitude of "refer to the existing chapters" feel kind of restraining.
I actually thought that was General Electric, on hearing that Iran was looking for a Nuclear Reactor.
The GOP was selling to terrorists long before GE identified them as a valid market segment.
Per second? Hour? Day?
