The 'kids' that Nintendo are targeting are plenty sufficed with the 'deep' experience Temple Run gives them on their touchscreen, anywhere and everywhere. Nintendo have to realize that their target demographic are adults who grew up with Nintendo and want their children to dicover the joys too. This is what they are facing, the 'customers' they want have moved on.
Also, the Wii is cannibalizing those WiiU sales. They are in the same place Sony were in in 2005. Coming off the previous gen with a wildy successful console that's still on the market and still selling like hotcakes.
Every kid I know want's either a smartphone or tablet. From my observation the only people playing consoles anymore are teenagers and adults that grew up with consoles many of which are increasingly shifting their attention to mobile. The younger kids have ditched their DSi for iTouches over the last two years and are playing casual and social games.
^^ this. So absolutely true. Kids under the age of 10 have almost no interest in consoles at all. The iPad with its plethora of freemium games gives them more to play with than a console. The goalposts have indeed moves and the console makers ad game makers targeting kids have to realize that. This is a fickle market.
This has been on the cards for about two years now. Construction at the site stopped last month because politicians wouldn't dare go on with the project because of public opposition. One of the top stakeholders in Verne Global is one Bjorgolfur Thor Bjorgolfsson, former owner of failed bank Landsbanki, whose high-interest Icesave savings accounts failed spectacularly and have kicked off the biggest firestorm in the republics' short history.
Also, the bandwidth is not a problem.

These are the fiber cables we have. As you can read, we have lots of unlit fiber there.
Perhaps the answer lies in DSL repeaters. We are starting to use them here in Iceland to serve rural homes that are between 5-10 km from the DSLAM. The plan is that these homes will be able to get 2 Mbps down/512 up which is way better than crappy old ISDN.
I've seen DSL, throttled back to 512 kbps down on lines that were over 15 km long so it's not unheard of to see DSL on such long lines.
The big problem with Docs is that it isn't really secure. If it's gonna be cloud computing all the way, then I as a user have to be sure that my docs aren't gonna be intercepted by a MITM or a cross-site scripting flaw. I use the Writely part of it at work as a quick repository for info I need quickly, but the company firewall recently blocked it and I when I asked why I was given links to posts from security researchers exposing big time cross site scripting flaws with it that made me rethink how I use it.
Other than that, OO all the way for me!
Sorry guys. This is brouhaha over nothing. The blaclist in question does NOT disable apps remotely but instead disallows listed apps form accessing the CoreLocation framework.

I've come to the conclusion that reformed ministers in Japan do moonlight as malware/bug/virus hunters.
Too bad I couldn't find anything on his site tho:)
If this wasn't already modded up I'd spend a point on it. The worst thing about the two next-gen consoles are the two different versions. Microsoft actually shot themselves in the foot IMO by not including the HD as standard issue in all SKU's -therefore preventing the use of the HD as a cache device and speeding up loading times like they did with first Xbox.
Nothing new here, at least for Uni students. Back in the fifties and earlier, when amphetamines were over-the-counter andcould even be baought in vending machines in some places in Europe, Uni students cramming for an exam used to pop quite a lot of those.
These new drugs may not come with the unpleasant side effects now, but we'll see what effects long-term use will have in a few years when use becomes widespread.
Yep, I questioned myself too back in my gamer days: Who buys Palladium stuff anyway? Good game worlds and ideas, but their lawyer-happy attitude back in the early 90's caught a sour note with many gamers. Funny to think that back in the pre-Magic days, Wizards of the Coast were almost shut down because of a lawsuit from Palladium Games. They also sent a lawyergram to White Wolf because of articles they were writing that included stats and thoughts about Palladium material. In short - Palladium wanted complete control over who wrote material concerning their gameworlds, and this came as a rude surprise to the gamer press and the community at that time. Me and many other gamers thought this was a lowpoint and did not do the company much good, and now see where the industry is - Wizards(of the Coast) is the mothership while Palladium is a mere footnote in the history of gaming.
I agreee wholeheartedly. In fact I'm way beyond sick of the 'classic' era. If Lucas would be daring, he'd use either TOTJ or the Vong wars. I'd prefer the Vong wars, because they are a formidable enemy, not to mention a fresh take on the whole 'universal dominance' type of enemy with superweapons.
Hmm, nothing new here for me. We here in Iceland have had this since November. Even tho it was a new company, not affiliated in any way with the incumbent state telco, nor their wireless/cellular competitor. Same rates, 8Mbit/12Mbit/20Mbit,and no capping (or so they say). No need to purchase any other services either, but their routers (Zyxel) come locked and if you want to forward ports and stuff like that, then you will have to call their tech support staff.
I find the slant of the article quite disturbing. Mentioning that suprnova hosts torrents for atom bomb e-books and beheading videos really gives BT a bad name.
But that's mainstream media for ya.
Hmm at first í thought I had loaded kuro5hin.org up instead of/. I'd recommend you to go over there and search for a submitted article on this very same subject. It received a few hundred replies, many of the extremely helpful. I should know, I work in mental health care myself.
I do agree about this. Social engineering is WAY easier than actual cracking, but it requires a certain degree in sociopathy, which many people don't have. The skill of fast-talking.

Thanks for that.
There are actually two aluminum smelters in Iceland.

Amen to this. Outlook is manna from heaven compared the bloatness and slowness that is Notes.
When gems like this show up I cry aloud for my lack of mod points. I also think there in tent is to ad to teh discushion.

Erm I just returned from my 2 week vacation and I just reconnected, and I don't feel any withdrawal at all. Pretty biased study if you ask me.
