The article is about college students though... people who are supposed to be responsible for themselves. And while I agree that the parents have a part in this in earlier years, once they're out on their own, there needs to be some self control involved.
I do find it amusing that they felt so disconnected from their friends, yet no one thought to place an actual phone call to try to meet up with their friends? No media, sure... but they could use a phone as a phone, no?
I used to have WTFLOL in NY... but apparently someone took the time to actually complain to the DMV about it so the NY DMV sent me a new set of plates with a letter explaining the situation.
It was a sad day. Sad that someone would actually take that kind of time to complain about a license plate.
So now I have SRSLY b/c it is srsly retarded that I had to turn in the old plates.
How about another study not so close to a presidential-election year? Not that I expect the science/education/etc coverage to increase dramatically in other circumstances, but of course it's going to be a lot of campaign coverage.
I just flew round trip to Boston (US Air) and never once had to turn my laptop on. Of course, it does have to be taken out of the bag, like the article says... but didn't see anyone having to turn theirs on.
I believe they've been doing this for a little while now in my area. I've seen it at my place any my g/f's place. I disabled it already where I am. I was pretty surprised to see it, but instantly looked for a way to turn it off. I'm actually impressed they gave a way to disable it at all though.
I was under the impression this was exactly the kind of reason eBay existed. "hey, i don't use this junk anymore, what'll you give me for it?" If the "church" was really given this kind of power, that's just not right.
Perhaps if they wanted to curb the resale of their devices, they should offer some sort of buy back program? They'll still turn around and sell them again and make a profit.
I saw one gamestop that went as far as to have the stupid refurbished Wii boxes on their counter. You know, the used ones they resell, like the PS2, xbox and other systems. They had a "used" Wii box with a price on it right next to the others. Don't recall the price, but I asked the guy if that was for real and he said no. I laughed and walked out of the store.
I hate that crap. I can almost understand the regular Wii boxes to get attention... but a box for a USED Wii is a bit much for traffic.
The 350k was just for the US, just for last week with Black Friday.
They normally average 500k+ per month in the US. But the 1.8m per month is split between the US, UK/Europe and Japan. So those three together add up to the 1.8m.
Ya, there's something like 10k+ on eBay right now. Average selling price for just the console is over $400 plus probably $30-$40 shipping.
I was hoping to find one or two to sell on eBay myself. But I have family and friends that I would find them for first since I know other people looking. I've been telling people to buy a bundle if they see one in a store - even the $700 Walmart bundle. At least that way they get some of the things they would buy eventually anyways and they're not paying any inflated prices.
I've been out of college for nearly 4 yrs now and I STILL don't know what I want to major in. How can they expect a 9th grader to just choose what he might want to do with the rest of his life? I think I went through 3 or 4 completely different ideas in that 4 yr span of high school.
Trouble with the beta already at work on Windows XP. We have a proxy that requires domain authentication (which works fine with FF). As soon as I started Safari up, it prompted me for the credentials... I entered my domain\username and password and clicked OK - crash with a memory error immediately.
I also tried clicking Cancel on the proxy authentication window and got the same result.
Not going to knock the beta too much for that though given the circumstances... I'll be trying it at home minus any proxy later on. I'm hoping for better results.
Ya, there was a story in the 'hose yesterday about someone all excited that the MPAA site having the AACS code on it... but it just said to go to the site and search for the code.

Nice...
I can't believe it took that long for a BloodNinja joke. The setup was right there...
I'll second that...
NALOPKT?
WTF?!

Considering Father's day is on Sunday, there won't be much shopping time. Especially if it needs to be shipped from somewhere.

Simpsons did it!

Er, wait. It wasn't the Simpsons... but someone did, or tried anyway.

I don't think they got that memo.
It is about... damn... time.

Gift guides for most of the family.
I think they're still working on one or two more. Not sure.
That's what eBay is for.
Exactly. It's just to get you in.

How dumb...

So typically, if PAX wanted to use him as a publicity stunt, wouldn't they make his invite, oh, I don't know... public??
Nice try Jack.
I think he's saying that when you pay your property (school) taxes, that's the money that helps to pay teachers' salaries.

Well no shit!
Ya, so when I had clicked the original link, it didn't work. Hence the post. Followed by your post 13 minutes after I was trying to see them.
A link to photos? From a main story?
Riiiight. Anyone got a mirror?
So do you block it in your HOSTS file just to say that you block it in your HOSTS file? Because you could just, um... not go to it...
