You mean real 'worthless' admins, right?

"Real admins have 2 hours to get a new box up and running before they have to go put someone elses totally unrelated fire out."
Any admin that deserves to keep their job, keeps a pristine image of a locked down server, and can build a machine automatically with about 5 minutes of hands on labor. Put in the ghost boot, set it up, walk away. CIOs, if your folks dont do this, fire them. You should have a pristine image of every important server on your network. Taking the time to load an OS from scratch today is ridiculous.
Put down the pipe for a moment, you liberal loser. If they wanted to kill anyone in that car, do you not think our military could not have blown the car to bits in a heartbeat?
They shoot into the engine block and attempt to disable the vehicle so that they can gain INTEL from whoever is in the car. They dont want them dead, you fool, they want to know who is funding the nutcases who set off car bombs around innocent people.
You have a right to be against the war, but you have no information supporting that the U.S. wanted to kill that woman, but hell, that never stopped an idiot from spouting off before, has it?
They had better think of something else. I was a long time Netflix member. After I moved, I discovered that I had lost all of my return envelopes. At the time, I had gotten a free 2 months with Blockbuster and their envelopes were lost too. I emailed both companies, requesting replacements. Neither company sent them, but Blockbuster told me put multiple DVDs in one envelope after my next shipment, while Netflix only suggested that I go out and buy replacements pony up for the shipping. I canceled Netflix and increased my subcription at Blockbuster the same day I got those replies. Both companies have a policy against replacement envelopes, but Blockbuster offered help, while Netflix said I was on my own, and if I didnt hurry up, they would charge me for the DVDs.
No, I was not one of the divorced ones. My wife has a sense of humor and laughs at me when I make those comments, even though for Seattle, they are true. I'm not divorced because my wife understood when we met that what I do is very important to me. I am married to the rare woman with a life of her own, and does not need me around to entertain her when I am busy.
Besides that, where is she gonna go? I'm rich, bitch!
Honestly, I think I would rather be an asshole who can ship software, than some nice slug with a wife who can only work 9 to 5, because of a spouse. As anyone running their own business about the last time they got to knock off at a decent hour.
This is going to go over badly, but if anyone wants my opinion on what has happened to Microsoft over the years, it is the fact that they started hiring so many women into positions of authority, that the company lost its edge. Women managers like to give second and third chances to under-performers. Microsoft used to be a place where you either performed or you were out on your ass promptly. Not anymore.
Back to the point; Divorce happens to poor folks too. If 'trauma' is possible rich or poor, I'll choose the money every time, and take my chances on the women. But then, this is Seattle, where women are horny, plentiful and replaceable.
I'll bet Gates is one of the first to hire those folks who are about to park cruise ships 3 miles off the coast and house hundreds off coders for hire outside of U.S. waters.
Hell, he might just park a boat out there himself and run his own outsourcing outfit.
At least we could fucking SHIP back then. We cursed all day and night, but we got our stuff done. We were pricks and assholes and almost every member of my dev group got divorced, but we earned our money back when Microsoft abused us, but made us rich.
I have been a Windows user since Version 2.0. I have lived through every damn bug, every blue screen, every fucked installation, every bit of lost data and more.
And as the years go by, my wife's Mac looks better and better, until I have finally decided to break down and get one myself. If aint about 'the pretty colors' as you put it, it is about PROGRESS.
The kind of progress that we wanted when we went from Win 3.11 to Win 95. The kind of progress we expected when we went from Visual Basic to C#. Or better put, the kind of PROGRESS that we USED to get from Microsoft. Disclaimer: Yeah, I used to work for Microsoft, so fucking what?
The point is; progress seems to be coming slower and slower, in the exact ways that Lucovski pointed out when he left the company. Personally, I am getting sick of hearing about shit, only to later hear that the one thing that would make me spend money beyond MSDN has just gotten ripped out.
Many of us who make our living on Windows and other Microsoft products would like something more to talk about than just.NET. Unless you have had your wife laugh at you as you search for device drivers while she just FUCKING WORKS, knows exactly what I am talking about.
In short, we are fucking fed up.
You are right, it aint about 'pretty colors', it is about showing us that the company can still produce something BETTER than what we had before. If they cant do it in the GUI, why the fuck should we believe that they can do it in the file system?
First impressions are a bitch, and these aint good ones. We've been looking at the same shit for two years now, and I dont see any progress anywhere, just ugly screens of boring shit.
Apple's shit may not be all that much better, but they at the very least manage to put a nice ribbon on it, and act like the shit is special enough to want it.
XP works; Win2K3 works damn well. But, if you are trying to show me something new, the very least you can do is take the time to make sure it aint similar to what we have already seen or at the very least not fucking ugly?
My neighbor is a Marine Corps pilot. Most of his training time is on perfecting bombing tactics with less time devoted to air combat, but he is always complaining about flight hours. Hours are up under Bush, but were very low under Clinton(whom he hates)
One thing he told me is that the U.S. analysts always over-estimate the capabilities of enemy aircraft, because it helps them get funding for new weapons systems. I dont remember how many hours he said specifically, but he's happy in the job.
Isnt the F-14 retired now? I dont think we have a missile with the range of the Phoenix anymore. I do remember him telling me that one F-22 recently took on 4 F-15s in an exercise and smoked them all easily before they could get a shot off.
No current wide-body has lower costs per-seat-mile than the 777. The 777-ER and LR will lower costs even more. The Airbus planes do not come close in this regard, which was why Air India made such a large purchase of these jets just yesterday.
If you are going to be an AirBus fanboy, you need to get your facts together.
Also, the A-380 not more efficient than the 747-400 with its newest GE engines, so again, you are mistaken.
The Concordski DID NOT collide with the Mirage, but it crashed because in manuvering to avoid the Mirage, the pilot dived the plane at a low altitude, and pulled to hard in trying to avoid hitting the ground. He pulled what was estimated at 12 Gs, and one of the wings failed at the root, folded up, and then the thing hit the ground anyway.
My neighbor is an F-18 pilot, and I asked him about that Indian exercise. He told me that the U.S. as a routine allows other countries to win these engagements because they only participate in those things to learn how the enemy is progressing in their tactics and abilities. He also told me that the U.S. gains nothing by showing their enemies what they can really do until they really need to kick ass.
This guy tells me that there is nothing, nor will there be anything that comes near the F-22 for at least 10-15 years, and that the F-15 is so powerful, that what it cant kill, it can outrun and get away from anyway. The SU-30 has such a large radar signature that an F-15 can pick it up from over 60 miles away.
Against an F-22, that thing would be blown up before it ever saw the F-22 on radar. I want some of what you are smoking.
While you will see Singapore Airlines flying that big baby on some of those routes, you should expect that eventually they will be handled by the new 777-LR. With the cost of fuel rising, the A-380 might not get near the orders its builders had forcast. Boeing may have the last laugh because the seat/mile costs will be WAY under what this aircraft can produce, no matter how many people they can manage to stuff in it.
Beyond that, I dont think a lot of people are looking forward to boarding and off-loading times of over an hour with the amount of passengers that thing can hold. It is a technical marvel, but I think they just built a bigger slower Concorde, that will probably find a niche in Cargo, instead of passenger flying.
Maybe I should buy a Mac, so I can pay for same damn things over and over again. At least with Windows, I get a new way for my machines to crash each time I buy it.
I marvel at how Microsoft can find a new way to fuck up my data no matter where I put it.
Macromedia's web centric software is unstable, (IMHO) appallingly designed, inconsistent and very hard to learn.
Who in their right mind cant learn Dreamweaver? Shit, is there a product with more free tutorials online, with sites devoted to teaching how to use the tool? How many books have been written about Dreamweaver?
Now, I understand if you are some kind of FrontPage jerkoff who has never tried to hand code HTML or CSS to begin with but get real, buddy.
For as bad as you say it is, most of you would give a testicle to have a Linux version of the product, because there really aint nothin better.
Enterprise was doomed the moment they cast Scott Bakula.
Spot on, IMHO.
He was not a strong leader, and the writers actually let the crew argue with him. I dont recall Kirk or Picard having to explain themselves to their crews, or repeat an order to a subordinate. Hell, the almost never even had to raise their voice. The problem might be that Hollywood is now so GAY, they have no idea how a Strong Male Character should act. Maybe they should have been forced to watch Kirk save the planet, punch out the villain and bone the vixen, all within 48 minutes.
If Capt. Archer had a pair, he would have had the Vulcan with the inflatable chest naked on her back by the middle of episode 2.
What state do you live in? In most states, if you spend two years at an ALMOST FREE Community College, you are granted automatic admission into a 4yr school. Do you have any idea how much Grant/Loan money for higher education goes un-used every year?
I suggest you are not trying hard enough. Getting an education in America is easy, provided you are willing to work your ass off to get it done.
Heard of Google? I suggest you get busy, or stop BS'ing us about how hard it is to pay for College. You are not trying hard enough. If you are in a situation where you cant, or can barely pay your rent, you can probably end up in a Community College FREE OF CHARGE. So, get on it.
Dont help ANY woman with her computing issues until you know whether or not she can cook. Anything else can be taught, but if a woman can fuck up a meal, she will never improve.
If a gal is tall and broad like a swimmer, 44Ds are not that far out of the mainstream. Not that I prefer a lot of back meat, (TMI, I know)but 44Ds aint THAT big. Now, when you get into the EE and F range, now THAT is big.

Fuck off and die.

The Concordski's engine intakes were UNDERNEATH the plane. Attempting to level off would not effect airflow into the engines at all.
However, the wing that FELL OFF would have a great deal to do with the plane crashing into the ground.
Shut up.

Just getting ahead of those who would try to make this point without the obvious (I hope) humor.
Fuck, if we could harness the energy some people use into explaining why they CANT make it, we could fly to fuckin' MARS.
