Ayttm (shameless plug) works. So does Gaim (AFAIK) (ok, it's here...) and most major open-source MSN clients (since a few weeks at least, they use the new protocol). The ban isn't really a ban, that's really mainly a security improvement.
Serious ? I can't think of any serious website that needs to know its visitor resolution to serve content. In fact such things are more an indication of lack of seriousness.
What do you mean by 'exists' ? does the vacuum between planets, stars and asteroids exist ? if yes, how different would be outer-universe vacuum from inner-universe vacuum ? if not, universe really doesn't "look like" a sphere...
Easiest assumption is that the universe is infinite. Other points of view include metaphysic questions such as "if it's finite, where is it located" or complicated theories like the theory of Relativity:)
You seem to have had bad luck with your lombard. Mine works perfectly since 1999, despite an horrible hack (and apart the fact I had to fix its fan). Great keyboard, nice screen, still 2 hours of autonomy, cdrom OK, old HD still works (in another computer as the lombard got an upgrade) etc.
BTW. Of course a 17" G4 "kicks the living shit" out of a Wallstreet. It's five years newer. This is called progress, but it doesn't make older machines worse than they were initially, however.
Some ISPs seem to be better than others. My french ADSL provider allows me to run webserver, mailserver, DNS server, ssh server, and they gave me a static IP to do this. In addition to this, they offer me a secondary DNS and MX backup service. Costs me 42 euros/month.
The software patents directive has been voted on Sep. 23rd ; however the amendments proposed by the FFII have pretty much all gone in, transforming the directive into an anti-software-patents directive.
The whole procedure isn't over yet but a little optimism is ok:)
What I can't understand is how the chances of either opponent in a court seem to be modified by their wealth. Money seems to buy justice quite easily in USA... (Elsewhere too, probably. "-1 Naive"?)
I want a real career. Without computers. Without the corporation.
Not focusing on your income may help. Where's the need to earn 60k if you can live correctly with 30?
Let your job be only a little part of your life and you may be happier - there's so much more to do (you know, the "Real Life" people here often make fun of;-)) than work for a company you don't care about .
Of course this is not very valid for unemployed people. (I've been unemployed for a few monthes, just long enough to be able to consider this as nice vacations, but i wouldn't have wanted this unemployment to last too long).
You're completely wrong. Their spokewoman stated that "We're open and interested in talking with all providers that share our common goal of opening the IM community in a seamless, convenient and secure manner."
(see this news.com.com article).
This is not about msn chatrooms, this is about msn IM.

do you live in Great Britain ? :)
You know... "Lazyness" :-)
leaving your cellphone on doesn't mean you're going to answer it if it rings, does it ?

the difference with executable trojans is you that you can look inside scripts.

wow, already slashdotted? the whole site is a 403.
Maybe they're trying to make a point ("see? it's stupid isn't it") before appealing the court decision?
encode URLs in BASE64 [...] under the DMCA Eolas cannot prove [...]
Yeah sure, BASE64 as a encryption scheme. What next ? double ROT-13 ?
BASE64 is a stupid encoding system, nothing more.

It isn't illegal in Europe.
of course not. How would it be legal ? Are you allowed to take stuff from companies sending you paper junk mail ?

Let's see... they may use different software ? There's quite a lot of good opensource (and portable) software.

That is, the moment a closed-source multi-network IM client is released
You mean, like Trillian ?
Most of the opensource clients have already catched up with new new protocol (trillian, gaim, ayttm, eb-lite and more).
You may as well have read past the first paragraph and clicked "here" to access the website.

No. Login really changed a few days after the protocol version bump in the header you're talking about.
MSN is not blocked. ayttm, eb-lite, gaim (in CVS) and some other clients already use MSNP8 or MSNP9.
