Ok, I can see how you read that wrong. What I meant was: on the topic of mobile webapp accessability, the bottleneck is bandwidth costs, not lack of dev.
I'd just like to second the part about data plans. $20 for 5mb/month (on Cingular) is just unreasonable. I just bought an international UMTS-enabled phone, but who can afford to use all the new cool 3G features?! The useable 2.0 webapps/sites are out there. It's up to the carries to make it affordable.
Hey, it's your city too. If you don't see any difference between structured authentic urban art, shitty urban decay, and a fucking marketing campaign from a company that has already been busted once this quarter for being invasive to consumers, then you're the chump.

has anyone out there really put the archos' units to the test when it comes to audio recorded? It looks like these units would be replacements for the DAT.
...I regret going straight to college all the time. Take a year off to live in Tokyo and sleep with over-anxious Japanese girls. Otherwise you'll just be in school, bitter, and playing World of Warcraft all the time (yes, this is me I'm describing here).
Final Cut Pro was the end all, be all solution for our Indy film project (shameless plug).
From our young, and perhaps inexperienced perspective, film makers just starting out can't go wrong with the G5/Final Cut combo simply because everything we did, besides sound post-production, was done on the Mac: Editing, effects, and color-correction in Final Cut, motion graphics in Shake, and nightly review builds, subtitles, and custom DVD interface in DVD Studio Pro. And being the newb I am, I was even able to figure out how to run some PHP services over the built-in Apache web server to manage showing and film fest dates. (I am now in love with PHPMyAdmin).
Now, not that everyone can learn Shake in a week, but we had no issues learning intermediate FCP and DSP techniques without external assistance, so I would have to claim the learning curve is really quit minimal.
And maybe I sound a little bit like an Apple commercial here, but other small filmmakers we've met go the extra step in using Apple's recently purchased Logic app for all sound post-production.
Our only criticism is Apple's price for some of these apps; for us, five kids still finishing up their undergrad, $999 wasn't really viable (thank you media lab!). But my guess is that if you can afford a 1080i HDV, a few thousand-dollar investments into a high-end G5 and Apple software aren't really an issues.
Give me a break. First of all, lets look at some stats that actually matter:
Czech Repub:
Population: 10,246,178
Net migration rate: 0.97 migrant(s)/1,000 population
South Korea:
Population: 48,598,175
Net migration rate: 0 migrant(s)/1,000 population
USA:
Population: 293,027,571
Net migration rate: 3.41 migrant(s)/1,000 population
The above article doesn't count the fact that we have a huge amount of immigrant children in our school system that don't even speak the same language as the teacher.
And a little off the topic...
What's up with all these reports that California schools are so terrible, according to standardized test scores. Does anyone even know how many ethnic groups there are in this state?!?
2000 Census data shows 39% of Californians age 5 and over, don't even speak English and their primary language at home (as opposed to Colorado's 15%).
And how many languages do CA public schools they teach math in? One.

Hybrid and fuel cell engine protection are not stymied by politics, but rather rich (oil) people. If you really want these these things, tell your fucking friends to buy a Toyota Prius instead of the Hummer/Escalade/Tahoe/huge-fucking-SUV

Sure we'll help you take a shit in public. Just go do it on the neighbor's lawn. And hand over the cash.
Yeah, cause', I mean, that iTunes Music Store was such a dud. :P
But is it really worth being lumped in with those dorks wearing the yellow Lance Armstrong band? Magic 8-Ball says 'no.'

I'd like to know exactly what part of the game he was re-enacting. The part where even my UNDEAD MAGE dies from jumping off cliff? Pfft.
Oh yeah? What about the time 10.3.6 f-ed up everyone's (with the Oxford 911) Firewire drives? Pretty shitty treat if you ask me; har har.

Shit, I considered it, and even installed it on an old pIII I had sitting around.
Then I realized Fedora and XMMS don't carry any easy mp3 support.
'Jumped that ship pretty damn quick.
At least OS X has iTunes...
Wow. Looks like Aqua to me.

I think the reference was to La Migra, yes?
How about detonating a nuclear weapon in Bam. That should do the trick.
Ho hum, someone isn't looking on where Canada's immigrants come from. Oh well.

Can we have an OS X port of Half-Life already?!? I've been waiting for five years, god damnit!
