and then in the end someone will ask, where do strings come from? And you'll work out another 10 theories to figure that out, only until someone asks where whatever that came from as well.

whether you put the blame on silly self-serving religious ideals or theorised theories of theories, I'll pick the third option: sun god.

    Oh wait.

so yeah go prove superstrings or whatever. I still think the string theory is a big load of shit made up by people who idolize Einstein a little too much...maybe if these people thought for themselves they could see the obvious truth to things.

This might prevent it from ever getting mass support from proprietary software/hardware makers but WHO CARES? I'd rather be using open source software (or standards atleast) anyway. And I know perfectly well that any linux box can be set up with some super easy interface with big desktop icons and font size 14, that's fine as long as someone takes care of that box for that person, but if not, it's basically useless trying to get some people to catch on. Keyword some, I've had people catch on quick, but not everyone is going to.

So in the end, I don't really care. Let people suffer the cruel fate of microsoft windows. I probably should make a comment about apple as well but I'd rather not see money going to either of these giant corporations.

It's not as if the alsa guys are stealing kernel developers away from their precious stable-code-writing-tasks, or anything.

As for video drivers...well if you're any bit of a serious gamer on linux and using one of the latest cards this most likely means you're using the ATI or nvidia closed source drivers, which again is not exactly relevant to any work that the lead kernel developers are probably doing...

It seems like this guy is completely clueless and is just making a big fuss over nothing. Or maybe they're just bitter that their favorite feature didn't get into the kernel but a new sound driver did? Hrmm...

there's a huge difference between ibm novell and redhat and that is they are all selling (or promoting) linux. whereas apple is doing nothing of the sort.

They don't really care about our rights, or any of the other issues most of us open source guys care about. They care about their own primary interest.

Gone are the days of hippy hackers in a garage. Apple is not the company it was when it started. The only difference now between apple and microsoft is the fact that microsoft won the race. And you can say they cheated to get there, but apple was playing the same game. And they lost.

So what now? They're still struggling to get the dominance they always wanted. It's no different from the past. They are a company with interests: MONEY.

People don't seem to get that apple really has no incentive to help people, open source, etc. And typically don't do anything that doesn't directly benefit them anyway. What else do you expect though? They are not going to be the ones opening patents for open source use. Novell and IBM? Maybe. Apple? No. Apple has too much self-interest. From it's propaganda-created following to it's media partnerships, apple is just another monopoly that can only hurt us in the end.

Of course a virtual-cd type thing or simply using hymn to bypass the DRM works fine, but oh no then you're violating the dmca! And your average user will never figure that out anyway.

Yeah, apple made itunes to go with their ipod, and locks users in, blah blah, but your average user doesn't know this shit, sees their friends or what not using iTunes, uses it as well, and knows no better than to shell out cash on blank cd-rs just so they can rip to mp3 and put em on their mp3 player...and while apple doesn't have to support people using songs bought from their store on alternative players, what do they expect?

I wholeheartedly agree with this lawsuit, and seriously, fuck all you apple trolls on here. Karma be damned, you people are so full of apple's bullshit you probably piss apple juice...

I had to help 2 people so far undo iTunes-related-damage so they could use their music on a third party player, and after I'm done I uninstall iTunes and install your-favorite-p2p software. I don't have time for this bullshit, and most people would rather put up with getting the occasional bad track then having to figure out how to get rid of the DRM on their iTunes songs...

copyright can go to hell for all I'm concerned, why should I have to put up with this corporate bullshit just to be able to have some freedom of choice? Use another store? Yeah, what store has as much as iTunes? Oh, that's right, none of them, except oh say, gnutella, kazaa, etc, etc.....
