I had one have a few broken wire locations due to wrapping the small cord around the clips when traveling. During the summer I don't need to carry the cable to school so it sits behind my desk. Well, I noticed my power cable going from green to orange to green to orange randomly... grabbed the power brick and burnt my hand. The small cable managed to break in a few locations and in those locations it turned a nice dark yellow. They replaced it out of warranty but I was pretty pissed they merely replaced the already busted ass design with the same adapter that would merely do the same thing again. Even getting burnt, it was a priority for their safety team but all I got was a replaced adapter, not even a sorry.
As a recent switcher (almost two years now) and have spent a pretty reasonable amount of my tiny income on apple products I'm pretty unhappy with the resolution.
I'm going to take a guess and say that TimeMachine is actually based upon the ZFS filesystem that Apple recently announced they were going to include in OS X. I've seen a lot of people talking about TimeMachine so figured I'd toss that idea out there.
You can use a lot of different templating languages here. A few off hand...
LiquidMarkaby
You can write your own in fact. There's actually two that come in Rails, Builder for creating xml files (rxml) and the other you normally see for building html pages (rhtml suffix)
As an iPod 20gig 3G owner ever since buying it... in fact, iTMS made me want to buy one more... I've stolen LESS music. As it stands now, I try before I buy. If there's one good song, iTMS it is, if the full cd is pretty good with the exception to one or two songs roughly, I'll buy the CD in a store. Same goes for my PowerBook, I've bought every single app I use on it. I know I can get them elsewhere, see it all the time, but they make my life easier and the type of apps tend to be different than those on the PC, makes me want to buy them.
Uhm... I don't think this is even a relevent topic. It used to be free. Then it started costing them too much money so they started charging for it. I'm sure slashdot covered it. Oh... yes they did
I own 3 games for it and i've had it for less than a month. Meteos, Partner's In Time, and Mario Kart. All totally awesome games. I sold my GBA SP on ebay to help pay for it. I waited until i knew there were going to be good games. Particularly interested in New Super Mario Bros, Super Princess Peach, Super Monkey Ball Touch & Roll, and a few others. Partner's In Time was the reason i bought it though, i loved Superstar Saga so much I just couldn't live without the sequel.
Grammar apparently isn't taught as well these days in public education. Makes me so happy I'm going to be a high school english teacher, I'll have to deal with this garbage every year until those monkey's in the lower grades start teaching the students correctly and/or ADHD has been wiped out.
Well, then the music industry just lost another customer... Again. I only came back to buying music because they made it affordable to me and I could get songs I wanted one at a time instead of on a cd where there might only be 1 good song I liked.
I don't bame apple for this, the music industry is a bunch of money hungry assholes. I'll keep buying apple products, I love my ipod and i love my powerbook.
Way back when there was the EFM, the Enlightenment File Manager written by Mandrake back when he was on board. it was essentially a "My Computer" type setup but you could type in commands into the window (a little display of what you were typing was in the middle of the window) and then you could execute that command on that window. it was extremely useful and i wish all file managers had this capability. it was amazing.
if you read the damn article you'd notice they were giving refunds to people who bought it in the past 2 months. reading is fundamental and i don't think half the fucking population can do it anymore.
By the way. Learning to spell should be more important than "souping up" your "CAMARO." No wonder GM stopped making it, very few of the camaro drivers could even spell it correctly.
In this day and age we use the term "modding" and similar description as you might with computing.
too late it's already happening. I put my entire blog entries into my RSS feeds. I don't charge or have any banners on my site either. I'm not losing any money, infact it keeps my bandwidth down even further because text compresses very well.
I happen to like Safari's RSS to be honest with you. Oh and btw, there's a "summary" tag in RSS for exactly what you describe, a summary. RSS = Really Simple Syndication as well depending on the version.
My POINT was that Microsoft is COPYING the exact INTERFACE of SAFARI. you wanna argue all this other bullshit but avoid the original post i made. i'm not replying anymore until you actually start going back on topic. until then, cya
Ok i'm going to disregard Sage and the other extension based RSS plugins for FireFox/Mozilla. They aren't "included" and therefore aren't worth even discussing here.
LiveBookmarks isn't very useful, for me anyway. Sure I can check headlines, but if i feel the need to read that particular item in the rss feed, i need to click the link and go to the page to view it. The idea of RSS is to read (most of the time) the story without having to open a browser or another page. LiveBookmarks are cool (when i used to use firefox daily i would use the rss feeds from del.icio.us, keeping all my bookmarks with me everywhere), however i don't view them as an RSS reader at all.
I look at Safari as a full fledged RSS reader. You don't have to (unless the rss feed only gives a summary) goto another page to view it, and it's built into the browser. It lets you search the feeds, it lets you do a lot more than you could in sage and with livebookmarks.
it's funny that you're arguing with me here, go look at the screen shots, then go play with Safari RSS, and tell me that they aren't damn near identical. Come back after you've done so.
The only RSS viewer I know of for FireFox is the LiveBookmarks and the Extension Sage. Sage acts nothing like Safari. LiveBookmarks are nice (only for del.icio.us for me however) but aren't really what I would consider an RSS reader. Thunderbird has an RSS reader, but Firefox does not. If it does, feel free to point me to it.
Not necessarily. THey're making more than enough money to keep the company going, and it's expanding. With that said, your precious web statistics don't mean squat to most people. If the browser works it works, they're making more money than ever and are profitable. So how is it they're shooting themselves in the foot?
developers don't develop for all browsers still. that's the point. that is the ONLY thing that identifying as IE might cause problems with.
I'm not sure, don't most website statistics count an IP address once and call it a unique visit for x number of hours? So how does that count into this? So what, the browser is snagging data from the website before it's needed.. that would only count as 1 hit.. the prefetching i could see, but that STILL gives you an idea of how many users there are out there even if they aren't viewing your site.
As a recent switcher to Opera. I must say I like it more than FireFox/Mozilla. I had used Mozilla since the.9x series and loved it. But the interface is horribly slow. I do miss the extensions in Opera, but the extremely fast rendering, low memory footprint, and blindingly fast mouse gestures just rock. not to mention you can navigate through just about any page with just the keyboard.
Does WinPlay3 offer playing of just certain artists, genre's or albums? Does it transfer music to a music device? Those seem to also be present in the patent. I know WinAMP can but that's only in the newest ones with plugins.. (well everything's a damn plugin anymore).
i'm thinking the patent is pretty legit. However that doesn't explain why it has taken them 4 years to file a freakin patent. not to mention all the other players out there. iTunes is free just like all other players, so i don't see how they're getting this idea that iTunes is really all that different from the free version if WinAMP, but wait, there's pay for versions of WinAMP.. target apple because they've got money from other stuff? Sounds like the company is full of retards like SCO.
Ok being slightly unfamiliar with all this. Since WinAMP was released in 1997, that would invalidate the patent due to prior art correct?
With that said this company wouldn't have a leg to stand on...
It seems like the whole patent "industry" needs a bit of help. We hear about these stupid lawsuits on a daily basis anymore, it's pathetic and the number of dollars wasted should make it a pretty big priority to fix it ASAP.

It still is free for 60 days. Goto the .mac page, upper right, "Free Trial."

Son of a... Even I fscked it up. "monkey's" shoulda been "monkeys" ... so much for possessive vs. plural eh? lol

Not even remotely close to being professional enough for an educational institution. next idea please.
Cam-arrow... that's the pronunciation, and that pretty much shows it's spelling too. Either you're mispronouncing it or your friends do.
Let me guess, it's an IROC right? *rolls eyes*

more like exactly like Safari. Including the RSS viewer built in, which is damn near identical to Safari 2.0's RSS Viewer.

Yes I use iTunes, and Winamp 5 does this with the Media Library. So that's at least one other player covered by this patent.
