    Pester them? -- It's worth a shot, they have offices in all 50 state (IIRC).

    It seems Microsoft is doing something positive.

    While not quite a true prescident (IANAL), having the biggest corp. in the world (Larger than all but 7 (I believe) nations) involved has a good chance of getting the ball rolling on anti-spam legislation.

    This is NOT a Very Bad Thing (tm)

    Incidentally, any product that can be used to create, maintain, objectify, alter, transmit, or destroy Very Bad Things (tm) is a violation of the DMCA and will cause litigation.

    It's the war of the l33t-5cript kidd13s, and I fear they may be winning.

    The only complaints I've seen about alphanumeric codes have been about the difficulty remembering them: I can't say they're much worse than US zip codes.

    I strongly reccomend a desktop.

    While laptop thefts aren't a horribly common thing, college freshmen brainfarts (tm) are. I say this while enjoying my first year standing. However, having spent a great deal of time with small office/home office/home-use computer consultants, I can say that laptop theft is *much* higher first year, than other years combined. (Non-scientific data gathering, to be sure).

    Use common sense: If you make it portable, it is more likely to get stolen. It will also be more convienent, and probably better used. In my experience though, a desktop will be just as useful. If you need a computer on the other side of campus, you can probably find one to use.

    Disclaimer, I go to RIT, all comments should be taken as though they are from someone who goes to school at an Institute of Technology

    So do all restrictions on ownership.

    If the government takes all the guns away, only the bad guys will have guns.

    If someone wishes to avoid this system, they can, same with nearly all tracing systems. C'est la vie. IANFIF.

    Wow, talk about not speaking clearly.

    I most definetly meant to say "wouldn't the lack of air resistance elminate the only thing that keeps ping-pong balls moving slowly?" Too much time spent in the business world, I can't even say something clearly.
