I upgraded to 11.04 and when the system rebooted, Apt stopped working, I get a Hash Sum mismatch error when I try to get packages or even running apt-get update.
Went back to 10.10 by doing a fresh install...
Yes i just dumped out the data from my Android Phone, it's got 3 days worth of location information. It does not have GPS based location, seems like a temp cache for Apps to get location based on Cell tower/Wifi data.
The Iphone data described seems far more extensive.....
Speculation about carrier based on the frequencies is at best guesswork, because new radios can be swapped into the design very easily. Most radio chipset manufacturers can give you a radio with the same pin-outs and die size for any flavor of cell system you want to talk to, and the programming interfaces are all standardized as well.
Android works differently when it comes to App footprint management.Only the critical piece goes on the ROM, the app data stays on the sdcard.
I have a mytouch android phone it has a 512MB of ROM space. I have more than 100 apps installed and still 96MB of space left.
I hardly see this is as a problem.
What head aches? like not being able to find drivers for your new geeky toy?
Windows might be bloated, take up resources but an "operating system" is no good if it can't operate all of your hardware. Microsoft is soo good at enabling other companies to write drivers for them, I know it's not because of their technical prowess but because of their army of marketing people. In the end I don't care how they got to that point.
Sayinng non-windows OSes are great has merit but only in a very limited context.
Multi-core can be useful with existing programmin models. Imagine getting rid of the context switcher forever and executing threads/processes on a new core every time an application is launched or a thread is spawned. The OS can incorporate a Core manager similar to a memory manager.
This is an effective method as long as the processor is able to manage its load properly internally.
i.e if a processor has say 100 cores..with a combined processing capacity per unit time of Z and there are X threads and the processing capacity of 1 core per unit time is Y
XY must always equal Z.
The challenge is how do u manage Core loads within the CPU, if Intel can solve that uber multi can really take off.
On a long trip the dash board said 38MPG and in regular city traffic, it says 23MPG. It's just amazing how much stop and go traffic can affect your fuel efficiency.
1 litre of water weighs 1kilogram and 1000 litres of water will occupy 1 cubic meter of space.
Metric system links the dimensions so very well. The above mention case is for water for other fluids it's simple too...just use the specific gravity number as a modification number. Makes thinking about physics a lot easier.
I have experienced it lot of times and I have come to make use of this. If I am not able to tackle a problem I go home and the next morning for sure I have a possible solution
I some how feel our brains expands it's horizon when we sleep. Maybe a WiFi connection to the mother brain:)
When resources get running too low, I believe our increase in technology will make up for it.
Seriously?
Don't you think reducing consumption is part of the scientific technique itself?. And yeh how do you know we have the rate of technology growth to sustain ourselves?

I think it's a great idea..when you can have censorship for prime time TV...why not the internet? People say internet is a place where you choose what you want and not the other way around..but does a kid know what to choose?
All the people who are complaining about Dads and Moms not knowing how to configure a browser...here's a quick idea...why can't the operating system support a kid's account just like an Administrator or a Guest account on windows. This kids account when created would automatically set up all the browsers and stuf.
The whole kids domain thing is a great idea and would go a long way if pursued in the right way.

Huge iPhone like device. Not something you want to hold up to your ear, bluetooth recommended just to hold down the Geek-factor.

It could be on sprint tomorrow if they wanted.
Bluetooth is holding down the Geek factor? lol
Forgot to mention the 512MB includes the OS as well. I am guessing I can install another 100 apps before I run out of space.

What if they don't use the electromagnetic waves for data transmission at all.
They might be using some quatum physics phenomenon to transmit data, in which case it is way over our heads. :)

If it asks for your vote..Run!
why do we have these lame stories today?
If at first you don't succeed, try and try again.. :)
How fast the slack website was? Inspite of being /.ed
Thats because you have the freedom to do so..That doesn't make it the right thing to do.
" Only money drives technology.....open source does not gaurantee money...and may affect the technological welfare of the world in the long run."
This is my point.
Alright you can give as much as you want...but don't expect others(MS etc..) to do the same.
And don't claim your way is good and the other way is evil.
The whole idea of sharing of intellectual property is pure communism.
Every piece of code has a bit of the programmers intelligence encapsulated in it, sharing it for free would be soo wrong.

an emotion chip or did Intel steel it?

The conditiions for sustaining life may not always be sufficient to create life.
Origin of life is a very rare event...under special circumstances...presence of water doesn't gaurantee anything.
Life may survive extrememe conditions but it has to evolve to get there!
