I'm on the DNC list, and I've had telemarketers call me anyway with an automated dialer that does not give me the option of blacklisting my number. So, I punch one (or whatever) to speak to a sales rep, and immediately ask to be added to their DNC list. They immediately just hang up on me.
So they naturally call back again in a few months. Instead of asking to be removed, I ask to know what their company name is, and with whom I am speaking. They hang up immediately again. WTF?!
And surprisingly, device drivers were lacking for all but the most rudimentary devices. No scanners, few printers - a total nightmare. Even Microsoft advised waiting and not using it because of the lack of support - they knew they were going to toss it out when Vista was released.
This way, they can claim that the other P2P systems "compete" with their product, so they can legitimately block them with the full backing of congress. After all, why should they be forced to share "their" networks with competitors?
Surely it helps their cause that Google was originally partly funded by the venture capital investment arm of the CIA (In-Q-Tel)... Are people just now becoming wise to this, or did they just forget?
And corporations as we all know, can not be held accountable, have no morals, and have a responsibility only to the stock holders' investments. Because the government is the paragon of accountability, morality, and fiscal responsibility.
I know this is/., so yeah, we all hate ads... There is a possible upside though.
I'm a grad student, I do a lot of research for my classes online, and 90% of the papers I read are in PDF format. For the benefit being able to download these papers, I pay an annual fee for membership in IEEE & ACM to access their digital libraries. If they (ACM/IEEE) could recover their fees through showing ads in the pdfs, maybe I could forgo paying their membership fees and opt instead to download the ad-laden version.
Then again, who knows, they might try to have their cake and eat it too - by charging me a membership fee to access ad-laden pdf versions.
I have the 323 as well - and have had the maddening experience of files going missing. I mount the drive in windows and point my iTunes on my windows box to that drive for it's storage. Every so often, the little "!" icon shows up to the left of a song that comes up in the random shuffle, and I have to go re-copy my files to the 323 from my linux system. The 323 is supposed to be for backup, but it clearly is not reliable enough for that purpose.
And you think AA is a good thing? Telling people that they cannot possibly compete on an equal footing because they are disadvantaged (due to their race) is just plain offensive. That AA is wholly ingrained in our society is a very legitimate cause for the dumbing-down of American institutions.
Microsoft admitting fault? It's a bit too early for the April Fools jokes guys!
I think they pretty much decided on the "Imperial March"
Yes! These are the asshats that I was referring to in my earlier post. They will not remove you from their list, no matter what you try.

Who knew that being slapped with a trout in IRC channels would one day be considered beneficial?
goodbye footnotes, you'll be forever missed
You are applying a logical model to California. Bad idea.
Military GPS is not the same as that used by civilian consumers.
With new machines shipping with 4gb of mem, I think that day is already here.

And no danger of any cool ideas being stolen at all. I mean, it's not like consultants are in it to make money.
By all means, let's all do his homework for him too.
I don't think Brewster's Millions is the best analogy here, but I like your attempt.
No, but Father's Day is just around the corner.

Check mate, Comcast wins.
You must not live in the People's Republic of California.
Amazon's in Washington state, not California BTW.
I thought they were on the receiving end of that money anyway - given In-Q-Tel's investment in Google. There must be all manner of backdoors in there.
Surely it helps their cause that Google was originally partly funded by the venture capital investment arm of the CIA (In-Q-Tel)... Are people just now becoming wise to this, or did they just forget?
Wrong! When God is no longer mentioned on the currency and has been removed from the Pledge of Allegiance, let's talk.
More likely the cop's testimony will be weighted 10x theirs.
"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."
