Pray, o' Lord, that You giveth thine Jon of DVD, the power to release thine TV shows from Satan's demonic, ravenous, malicious lock on ones and zeros, so I may become pure of spirit and download thine shows from ThePirateBay.

I unserstand in the real world we are supposed to act all civilized and polite, but I say FUCK THEM, it's too late for MS to play nice. Welcome to the future, enjoy Linux and OSS, and FUCK YOU.

Now excuse me as I go back to finish working, I was using OpenOffice.org (latest beta of v2) and it's wonderfull and I'm carefull to make sure I submit any bugs I find. That's my part.

How many companies are going to allow any data of any sort outside their environment?

I know of 16,900 that already put the family jewels, their customers and prospects and financial sales information, all on-line. It's called salesforce.com and it's hosted CRM.

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot about the few 100,000 companies that use on-line hosted Microsoft Exchange. Need more examples? No, I didn't think so.

This is going to be great, I am sure. I trust Google to help the user interface and I trust sun for keeping the thing up and running (after all is said and done, there is not much kit on the planet more reliable than Sun's heavy metal servers IMO) and I can't wait to use it.

Start > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs > Microsoft Office > Remove.

Can not wait to do that on my one and only Windows box. Already moved to Open Office on my Powerbook. And yes, Gmail and Salesforce.com work sweet on Powerbook. w0oT!

  25. It's the reduction of choice that helps OS X rock. on Mac OS X Intel Kernel Uses DRM · · Score: 4, Insightful

If OS X had to run on a gazillion different combinations, that fact would be a major point it making it less reliable and less stable. BECAUSE THE OS IS SOLD TO RUN ON ONLY A FEW HARDWARE OPTIONS, IT"S EASIER TO WRITE AND TEST AND Q/A THE DAMN THING! That is part of the success of OS X and what makes it run so geat. Of course Apple wants the hardware sales, but controling the hardware is critical too. I would not want an OS X that could run on Compaqs to Dells to A Opens to your custom PC because then I wouldn't get uptimes of 90 days (rebooting only for security updates that touch the Kernel, etc).

LOOK AT SOLARIS. Ask anyone who needs a Solaris box to stay up for critical stuff (not FTP server, talking about critical stuff at the core of a company / government / hospital) and it will be on one on Sun's servers, it will NOT be Solaris for Intel. Big metal + Tested Metal = Solaris uptimes of years if need be. Small metal + Tested Metal = OS X I know and love.
