    Yawn. Multithreading is future. Its very clueless to state that xbox is handicapped because it has 3 threads. (Actually it has 6 threads) Here's what you use your threads for.

    Networking

    Network game server

    AI

    Voice Communication

    I sure like to see a cell SIMD handle networking for a game. Most of the hardware sites agrees they will have to do it on the main core. So now your networking is competing against game play. AI is also pretty complicated, and requires random access to memory so thats gonna sit on the main core aswell.

    And if you using library to hide the 8 simd processors, you obviously have no control on utilization of all 8 simds and your wasting the hardware. I highly doubt any game developer is going to use a library, its more likely they be handcoding instructions for each simd for performance and managing their own simd utilization.

    I bought one at Circuit City last year, but trade it in 1 week later after biting down and paying for cable. I see them advertised all over the place, they are called HDTV tuners or recievers. They usually have svideo outs(Most tvs support), composite out(all most all tvs support),dvi out(HDTV connection found on newer models) and component out(HDTV connection found on older models). You know what is cool about HDTV recievers(well besides being hdtv)? They actually tell you the show playing.

    Go ahead and poor a cup of freshly brewed coffee on your lap. Coffee makers keep coffee from 180 to 185 degrees, this is the recommended temperature set by the National Coffee Association of America. Mcdonalds was coffee was found to be 185 degrees, the recommended temperature. McDonalds has not changed the temperature of its coffee after ruling. People like you are the reason why I can't get a hot shower at a hotel, reason why little league pays more for insurance than it does to equipment and all other expenses. Please stop trying to fuck up america. Thanks.

    Btw here are the members of Coffee association of America. You think they know more about some coffee then stupid trial lawyer saying coffee should be servered at 135 degrees which is the temperature that can be reached in death valley.

    I'm tired of all this crap that you have to replace your TV. You do not need to replace your TV, all you need to get is a HDTV decoder and by 2009, they'll probably be $20 to $50.

    Both are adware. Opera has ad supported version and a paid version, gator has the same. But why does Microsoft AntiSpyware detect Gator but not Opera? I think Microsoft is showing favortism to Opera.

    I actually went to visit Gator not knowing what gator is(looks like google's toolbar form completion system), Its not deceptive at all. It clearly states $30 for the program or you can get an Ad Supported version. If this definition of spyware, shouldn't Microsoft's Spyware program detect Ad supported version of Opera as spyware? Or is this some kneejerk reaction because its Microsoft and everything they do is bad?

    You watch. They're going to start handing out tonnes of free development software to get people re-interested in developing for Windows. With web apps all the rage, who needs 95% of the market with desktop apps when you can develop with PHP, Rails or other open source tools and get 100% of the market with web apps?

    Wow i can build a cross platform mp3 player with php, and whatever on rails ?!??! Can I also create a FPS game with php and whatever on rails or do i have to use something little more powerful like cocoon? Now if i could only get my clue program to work on whatever system you're running, we'd be set.

    Ruling is a joke, it ruled Microsoft had monolopy on a OSs that ran Intel chips. If Microsoft had a monopoly on intel, then Apple had monopoloy on PowerPC chips. If you owned a Mac, there isn't another OS you can put on it. Jackson, the judge who ruled, also likend Microsoft to gangland killers who should be walloped by a 2x4 during the trial. If this case was held by a Jury Trial, Microsoft would have been found innocent.

    Again, that's because many of us understand what a "monopoly" is and understand that it does not mean that alternatives are not available.

    Monopoly Just shows slashbotters are redefining the word. Maybe we can redefine murder to the same meaning as assault.

    That case was bunk. Everyone knows it, how can Microsoft be a Monolopy when I can go out an buy an Apple? I love how people redefined monolopy they meaning monolopy. I love how slashdot posts articles about governement/companies/schools switching away from Microsoft yet slashbotters still call Micrsoft a monolopy. I'm simply amazed.

    Sony didn't have PSX3 hardware at E3, the graphic chip hasn't even been tapped out yet. Killzone was a cinematic rendering. Here's the general opinion from IGN's PSX2 site. There's also few articles even one which actually named the studio that did the rendering. I'm too lazy to google for it.

    By the time of the switch, hdtv recievers are going to be $20 to $50. In the past two years they dropped from $500 to $200. They don't need to change their tv or get cable.

    Increasing poly count on models and texture size is very trivial. Only thing i can see that would be affected is game AI which is CPU intensive.

    And how do you plan on supporting the extra bandwidth needed to support that high of resolution? Display resolution is only part of problem when it comes to ultra high res tv/movies, theres always the transport/delivery problem. I don't even think DVI or HDMI can support that resolution. I know apple 30" lcd requires two dvi connectors for its resolution.

    PS: why would you want to view a square assuming the pixels are symetrical.
