From $30 complact flash player i bought 4 years ago(thank you fatwallet), to my ipod nano, and lastly my recent purchase of $20 phillips boombox(thank you slick deals), they all supported VBR. My $20 phillips even supports Mp4 though no fairplay support(blame apple).
I'm boycotting apple because of ABCs GOP propaganda film they are releasing that claims to be based off 9-11 commission report but in reality is just made up stuff to smear the clinton administration. The reason for boycotting apple is because steve jobs is the largest share holder of disney and disney owns ABC. If he's unwilling to prevent this film from being shown, i will not buy his apple products. As the largest share holder of disney, we have to start holding Jobs accountable for disney's actions.
Wait you claim windows 95 was bad compared to windows 3.0? You gotta share whatever you're smoking. Windows 95 was great upgrade from dos and window 3.0 much windows 2k was great upgrade from NT4.
Too bad component cables don't support HDCP, i wonder how many people will realize that they aren't watching true HD movies because they have their ps3 hooked via component cables. You know what is sad? My $60 up converting dvd player came with an HDMI cable.
Any decent web application seperates the web designers from the code. That way you can hand off the html parts to a web designer to create the ui while having them know almost nothing about the back end. This is where classic asp, and php fail and asp.net or any xml/xslt solution shines.
My nano losses its decryption key on a monthly basis. And it always seems to happen when i won't have access to my computer for a couple days to change the ipods name(weirdest fix i've heard of) which fixes the problem. It just recently did it a couple days. Its quite an annoyance and i'm seriously contemplating using something to rip fairplay off my music. Also just recently purchased a phillips boombox type mp3 player for $20(slickdeals.net ftw), and it can't play my itunes purchased music but it will play aac just fine(aac is what i rip all my cds too). DRM needs to go away, and after experiencing the above issues, i will no longer purchase DRM'ed music.
Broken economy in games is caused by people like me who buy up a certain good on the market to produce a shortage and then jack the prices up. When you have tons of gold because you played wow from the start, its very easy to make gold.
Double encoded digital music sounds like crap. Maybe if you're listening to it on the oem earphones that come with your digital music player you won't notice but when play it on your decent home audio system or get a pair of nice headphones and you'll notice the difference, audiophile or not.
Lucent failure was the fault of management. Clear case of executives looking for short term profit in order to increase the stock price to maximize the value thus increasing their executives compenstation. And when cutting development didn't work, they cooked the books aswell. Executives don't have incentive to for long term goals when their compensation is based on stock and stock options, they have incentive to boost the stock price as high as possible so they can dump the stock and make a fortune.
Really think microsoft doesn't want to support IE any longer, its costs them tens of millions of dollars and makes them 0 cash. Look at their products like frontpage and asp.net, recent versions are more compatible with non ie browsers. I think ms finally realized they can't lock in the browser market and now just want to dump the ie money sink.
Our senate was designed not to be elected by the people thus not directly influenced by mob mentality that the house suffers from, they were suppose to be appointed by the state government. But certain amdendment changed all that and fucked up system. So now we get all these feel good laws, and since there is no balance(senate being really controlled by the state government), congress has taken lot of power away from the states.
Umm... If tiger is leaking memory, how about they fix it instead of relying on a garbage collector. I don't know of any modern OS, linux,bsd, even windows server 2003 that leaks memory to the point you notice it.

And what happens when its reversed? A guy wakes up next to a girl and has no memory what happened, and girl says we had sex. Oh wait double standards. At my college they were pushing if the girl was drinking, you couldn't have sex with her because she couldn't consent. Never was it the opposite.
Also why does MySpace have it's data center in LA? With all the fiber running around now I expect to see data centers moving to more rual areas with cheaper power and land.
Doesn't LA have expensive land, power, and earthquakes, and high cost of living? It would seem to me that there are many places better suited for a datacenter. I mean it isn't like you have to have your developers next to your servers.
Umm 1 wilshire(where myspace is colo'ed), or the neigboring buildings is one of the cheapest places to colo in terms of bandwidth. They are also on government owned power(LA power), which is cheaper a lot cheaper than Socal Edison. BTW, i moved my 1/2 rack from a 1 wil colo provider, out to ventura county(60 miles north of LA), I pay double the rate in rent and bandwidth but its more convient in terms of access than driving to downtown LA which is the reason we moved.
Bashing on culture is lot different than bashing on race. One can change their culture, one can't change their race. If you don't want to be redneck, move to city and become a metrosexual which would be the exact opposite of a redneck. Then you get jokes about being a metrosexual.
They also lower the yellow light times. In cali, some university or organization did a study and found out that you couldn't safely stop within yellow. Or even better, in Los Angeles they just had the cameras take pictures of cars in the intersection when the light was yellow and who hadn't run the red light.
Try to run AB without an epic mount. Speed in AB is more critical than anything else in AB since the winning strategy involves being able to reinforcing your positions before the other team can cap.
Slashdot really needs to change their error messgae when you click on read more link and the story isn't ready yet. Scared me for a second considering the topic.
