What gets me is that there are so many people who ask simple linux questions that people with real problems get pushed aside. And example would be contacting a developer about a kernel module. Kernel modules shouldn't hard lock the system right? I've had one that did. On multiple systems with only the one piece of hardware being in common. I read the module source and found that the card was a slightly newer revision than what was listed in the comments. I e-mailed the author but never got a reply.
Also hardware support for not-so-old hardware. Some hardware seems to get forgotten about. (this may be an X rant) Some older pci video cards don't seem to work well in X any more when they did years ago. The screen fills with static and garbage even though the card is detected (cirrus logic cards for example) You may say "buy a new video card" but when you are trying to use a computer with everything built in as a router / terminal it isn't always easy. Aside from recompiling XFree86 3.0, I wonder what could be done.

Back in the win 3.1 days, there was a guy that made a Win3.1 floppy. He made an installer so you could make one of your own without getting a warez copy. Back then the joke was "Double your hard drive space! Deltree windows!" I'd like to see a micro sized NT install or a live CD-ROM distro of windows.
This looks like it could directly compete with the EPIA Mini-ITX. I don't know what the fastest media gx core is, but it would be cool if AMD released a Mini-ITX board based around it. Especially if it could be done cheaper than the VIA board.
Apt-rpm I thought up2date was the total "shiznit" until I found apt-get for rpms. One thing, it helps me find crap I don't need. The other day doing a dist-upgrade, it was going to upgrade xchat. And I though, I don't use xchat! So I removed it. Who knows, maybe someone will port emerge to redhat.:P
High voltage insulated, hardened steel bits, German engineered. I've had many screwdriver bit sets that the bits just got destroyed but these are pretty much indestructable. Also a few years ago I picked up a Micronta (Radio-Shack) multi meter with serial port interface rather cheap. The manual contains sample code in BASIC on how to write your own software. If you were testing a flaky power supply, you could write a program that you could leave running for a long period of time to log the data. Of course many computer systems can do this already but some don't.
There was a show that appears some times on TLC or Discovery (I think)that is hosted by the late orson wells. It was made in the early 80's and it talks about Nostradamus's predictions and there was one that they interpretted as possibly being New York. But it was the man from "Persia" in the blue turban. I'm still trying to figure out who he is. I mean he predicted "Hister" (Hitler) so where is this blue turban "antichrist"?
Yeah, but that only contains 1/2 of your DNA. So you could put some argument behind it. Better yet. Before doing a crime, smear animal blood on your hands. Or wear gloves, a hair net, shoes with no tread that are several sizes too big, wear a 50lb bag of dog food on your back and wear a space suit. Hopefully that will get rid of 99% of that really hard to use evidence.
I guess their research showed a low amount of technical people there? Remember the cue-cat came out in Dallas first. "The Silicon Prairie" I guess they don't want people to reverse engineer it before it gets to market. BTW, what happened to the disposable cell phones that slashdot talked about a few years ago? I wonder if they'll use some sort of DRM such as MagiGate or SD to keep people like us from getting our pics without paying?
I know about the hindenburg. The material was painted with an aluminum dope compound that experiments have shown, react violently with fire+air. It is believed that static jumping between the pieces of aluminum doped material ignited the dope. The hydrogen fire really only started as the Hindenburg was on the ground but didn't really sustain. (If you do it right, you can even put out a fire with gasoline, but it is very hard to do)
It is frustrating and infinatly slower than a Hard disk.
How much does a 1GB hard disk cost anyway?
Actually Knoppix streams and uncompresses faster than it could read it in an uncompressed state. Considering all CD-Rom drives now are at least 32x, that's 4.8mb a second. And knoppix claims to have appx 3x the amount of data on the cd, that would be 14.4MB/s. If you can find a 1GB HD that can do that, then you'd be pretty lucky. Also consider the current cd-rom drives are all UDMA66 or UDMA100. And certainly no 1GB drive is going to have that speed of an interface. I've run diskless knoppix systems off of CD and via 10baseT and there are very few slowdowns.
If they can swing a deal with a cable/DSL provider for those people who don't own or want a "computer", they might have a killer item. Cable/DSL providers can lease or sell the units to people and then upsell their service with online storage and app-serving (ASP).
That's a good idea, considering if you don't have a hard drive to save things on, you won't be wasting your isp's bandwidth downloading stuff.
I am NOT Trolling here. So let me continue. Passports are necessary for the security of nations. Considering that in the grand scheme of things a fake passport is not beyond the means of anyone who has the use for it, a secure alternative is a good idea. If it scares you, don't travel! Think about it, do you let strangers into your home? Well a country is just a big home for a lot of people. I traveled to Mexico a few years ago on vacation and just used my birth certificate because they said a passport wasn't needed and it ended up wasting a lot of my time while various people squinted at it. One person asked me if I had the "original" because this one was issued by the county and not by the hospital. And I'm thinking damn, what an idiot I am, I didn't have the foresight to ask the nurse while she was shoving tubes into me if I could have a hospital issued birth certificate. So in my opinion if I'm outside my country, I want NO question as to the validity of my identity at any time. If I can shove a card into a reader that shows my thumb print and face. The last thing I want is to become the spokesperson for someone elses over zealous trainee at a border or airport.

I have nothing to say but "LOL!"
I want the replicator spittin' out martinis no stop, so fast that Hawkeye Pierce wouldn't know what to do.
Somebody better mod this up!

As senate majority leader, *BUZZZ* As senate minority leader, *BUZZZ* Damn, who can you trust?
Cool, I live in the dallas area so I'll be all over it.

A lit match works for hydrogen detection as well as many gas hydrocarbons. It is very versatile.
I was moved to tears of joy.
I can do better than that. It brought a tear to my glass eye!
Home address, phone number, SSN, personal e-mail addresses. What can we do to make sure he has a welcome time trying to invade our p2p networks?

I purposely included the term "unleaded" just to see how long it would take for a joke to be made. Originally I had said non-leaded glass.

I know I saw this before at least a year ago. I thought it was from here.
