  1. How to make more money on Seagate Overcomes Superparamagnetic Limit · · Score: 1

Seagate should just slowly introduce this. I mean if they jump to the threshold over night then what? Hard drives will be at the finite limit forever? That's not how you milk every penny out of someone. What if intel tomorow released a 1THz cpu? Sure it would put amd out of business but that is not how intel works. They increment as much as possible to hit every possible price-point for every possible human.

Still... Good job Seagate! I was getting worried now that IBM is getting out of the HD biz. Good to see that someone else can do some research.

Nothing illegal about this or wardriving. However, if you take it to step 2, which is wep cracking or attempting to join the network, then you are in the same boat as walking into an office and plugging in and nosing around. Netstumbler Forums has more info on this, but as you will read most of the people there do this strictly for the fun of it and do not promote accessing other people's networks.

I just had my meter box replaced yesterday due to a short on the un-breakered side. So I got to watch the electric company work with the transformer. In my neighborhood there is a 4' by 4' box in every other back yard. 14.4K Volts comes into the transformer from the pole and goes out on the to multiple houses. So for one, you'd need pppoe + encryption otherwise everyone in the neighborhood would be able to sniff your traffic. Plus sending signals backwards through a large step down transformer doesn't sound easy to me.

A little less bite than corn syrup Dr. Pepper but the clean smoothness was refreshing.

I hate Zip, Jaz etc because they can come in contact with the head and get damaged. DVD-RAM is the ultimate storage IMHO.

I didn't know everything they needed but I knew how to solve complex problems and that was more important to them than to have it all stored in my head. Later on, they were hiring another person there. He had his MCSE and on his resume it said "I know everything about computers." He had 2 strikes already. 1. MCSE and 2. "I know it all" So the interviewer asked him the pinout of an ATX power supply. He had a blank stare for a few moments and then stood up and said "I don't think that this position is for me." 16. What about on Haiku vs Spam · · Score: 1

Something like this. To ensure that the mail is from the originating domain how about something like this. Take the message and get the MD5 sum. Then try something like a reverse encryption. Where the encrypting key is private but the decrypting key is public. (Is this possible?)then decode it, match the MD5 sum and you can be sure that the mail itself is genuine. You could include this information in the header, therefore mail clients that do not support it would simply allow it. And those that did could take the public decrypt key from the header and the encrypted md5sum and validate the message contents.

Another idea would be how about just having the mail server itself digitally sign the messages as they are outgoing. The message could be signed using Thawte or Verisign etc. as a Genuine yourisp.com message. At least have msn, hotmail, and yahoo do this. That would get rid of a ton of spam! What gets me is why do I get so much hotmail spam with forged headers to my hotmail account. Isn't it obvious to the hotmail server that other domains can't send hotmail.com mail?

  18. The problem on Watercooling Made Easy · · Score: 1

The water tank is too small. Whats that like? A cup of water? No wonder it cooled to inefficiently. Also mounting the radiator in the case certainly wouldn't be as good as mounting it outside the case. Think about it.. There is still a lot of heat from all the other stuff in the case. Hard drives, video card, PSU... so really you are absorbing a lot of that heat back into the radiator. If you blow air in, you raise the overall internal temp but cool the radiator. If you blow air out, you don't cool the radiator as well.

I think someone needs to come up with something like a small air conditioner that can mount to the radiator or something to keep it cool. Even an air dehumidifier could fit the bill because it basically is a small AC unit anyway.

Because then they are liable for everything from then on. It is not the job of the ISP to hunt down, block and filter everything. The only thing it means is Higher Rates and Lower customer satisfaction. (Higher rates because of the extra employees that they will need to do the content filtering)
