ThinkNIC + Knoppix is a pretty cool combo. Knoppix kicks butt. Take just about any computer have it on the network and streaming DiVX;-) files off of a central Windows / Samba server. No HD required.
Oh, forgot the shameless plug..
My website I have some info there on what cards are compatable and what Dell's can be upgraded.
(Yes I know the bottom half of the list is empty)
Bet you didn't know that you can flash a Pentium based Latitude CP to a Pentium II based Latitude CPiD? Info's on my site on how to do it.
That can be fixed by making sure that you have the correct region set for video output. If you are in North America, use NTSC if you are in Europe use the version of PAL for your region. If you have already checked that, try to see if the Chroma pin is properly outputting a signal.
People have been doing this since last year. The 8x00 series systems all share the same video card interface. No you don't void your warranty (the delltalk moderators have confirmed this) however it is strongly advised that you replace your old card if you have to send it in for service. One guy reported his GF4GO card disappeared after it being serviced.
To order the card call Dell's spare parts line. More information is available in the Delltalk forums at http://delltalk.us.dell.com Please be smart and use the search function before asking a question that is answered 9000 times already. We'd appreciate it. I'm known as Stonent in the delltalk forums.
With power strip you can dial up any resolution that you want and create a profile for it. Take a look at the nice PNG screen shot and see for yourself.
This reminds me of the people that were putting MP3s out on Napster with random chicken noises embedded or just laughing. It seems that it just pissed people off but didn't stop them from searching and downloading what they wanted.
after many years of viewing stuff at the Fort Worth OmniMax dome. I saw my first IMAX movie last year and I was like... What is so special about this? It is just big. At least with OmniMax they can dangle you off a cliff. My favorite part of OmniMax movies at the Fort Worth Museum is the opening demo of a helicopter flyover of Fort Worth. The whole audience gasps at the same time because you get the immediate sensation that you are hanging from the skids on the helicopter. I also like being able to look up over and around to see other things. It feels more like you are there. If you've only tried Imax and not OmniMax you HAVE to try it!
First of all back in the 486 days all of the BTO mom and pop shops bought Trident cards like they were going out of style. Then along came PCI and they continued that but the cards were relatively the same performamce. Then along came AGP and the Trident 3DImage. We used to sell those because they had TV out. Well I'll tell you one thing.. Such atrocities done to 3D should not be expanded to 52" for all to see! That was the last I had heard of Trident until the IOpener came along and people were hacking them to load Linux. Cyberblade... Sounded cool until I found out it was basically a reworked 3DImage chipset.
Yet for whatever reason HP and Compaq were all over it like flies on..... It seemed to be a popular choice in their laptops. Especially their K6 and mobile Athlon/Duron models.
Now lets look at the compeditors at the time. 1998 had seen the introdcution of the Intel i740 low cost graphics chip. We could get these things in bulk for about $35-40 with 8MB ram. And compared to the 3DImage and the other option, the VirgeGX they kicked ass. (My boss was a cheapo and always wanted the cheapest card possible in his systems). At the time the video card options were basically Nvidia RivaZX, Rage Pro Turbo, and Permedia2. The high end market was served by the just introduced TNT and the Voodoo2. The i740 offered better graphics quality as the Rage Pro cards but cheaper. Trident didn't have a chance, so they slowly pulled back into their turtle shell.
Personally I'm hoping that this card will be everything it was hyped to be. It will force everyone to be bigger/better and cheaper. So I say "Good luck, and God speed!"
IBM entered the dual-processor core market with the Power4, the first server processor to use a multiple-core design. Power4 pairs two 64-bit PowerPC cores on the same processor, linked by a high-speed communications pathway.
I was under the assumption that Power=!PowerPC. IIRC Motorola can make PowerPC chips and IBM can only make Power. But Motorola can make PowerPC chips for IBM.
I could have swore I saw it flicker and go a little dim around the time this article got posted. Damn those solar power hippies stealing the sun's rays.. How selfish of them!
Dell DRAC cards can do this

Dell sells these cards with some of their servers. They will allow you to do pretty much what you have said. I don't know if they require any special connections but you could look into it.
"The Dell Remote Assistant Card is part of Dell's Open Manage program. DRAC offers "dead" server manageability via network or modem/remote access. This card allows you to access, diagnose and remotely manage your server regardless of its state."
Colin was the worst. The only Doctor to have ever been fired. Too much internal conflict and uncertainty with him. I actually liked Sylvester and Peter Davidson as well. Peter Davidson was probably my next favorite after Tom Baker.
Tried Knoppix on it?

DRM killed the Internet star....
The best part is "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!"
Yep.. I'd be willing to bet that was EXACTLY what happened. Nothing sinister involved just an honest mistake.

Here here! I'm two months away from you!
If it WAS a joke then why did it get modded as Troll? :)
It DOES run Linux. And it is prety nicely set up too.
Screenshot For some reason it didn't show up in the parent.

Yes the rumors were that the RIAA members were ones polluting the network.
