Not to mention making the hardware generic - you can move the virtual disks from one machine to another (or have it boot them from a SAN, etc) and not worry about the HAL that windows sees changing, even if the "real" HAL does. Makes migrating your "server" to a new box very easy, same with developing and setting up a "box"....
My Windstream (formerly Alltel) DSL account at home has *no* incoming ports blocked... or rather, none that I've run into. I've run (and connected to from The World) ftp, http, ssh, imap, imaps, and pop3 with no issues, other than my flakey power at home. My only gripe about their service is the "modem" they send out that has restrictions on *outgoing* connections, but that is easy enough to change the configuration on once you know it is there.
I work on a college campus, its great. The women I work with all go and exercise at the gym for 45 min or so, all of us guys take a walk a class change time to check out the "scenery". Sorta miss the camel toe craze from a couple of years ago, although there are always hotties out and about...
I've been stuck in RPM hell, but I've never had an issue upgrading Slackware from one version to the next, or Debian. Of the two, Debian is my choice for the nice things that apt does for me...
Full auto is easy, and legal to get, depending on state. Federally, it must have been made before May of '86 (anything after is LEO, Military or "post dealer sample" only), you get a background check (same as buying any gun), fingerprint check, either form an LLC *or* get chief law enforcement sign off (county sherrif), and you get your full auto gun with a special $200 tax stamp. Same with silenced weapons, or short barrel shotgun (sbs, barrel less than 18") or short barrel rifle (sbr, barrel less than 16"). Not to mention the "AOW" (any other weapon) and various destructive devices. All legal to get, own, etc. with the proper checks and *tax* stamps. Thats how they are regulated - interstate commerce clauses and taxes.
On top of all of that, full auto is fairly usesless - which is why the M16 now has a 3 shot burst instead of true FA. Tactically, it is used for covering fire, etc. not for actually "doing" something. For most of the "doing" stuff, semi-auto or FA with controlled bursts (thats why the 3 shot burst exists -they couldn't train it into the soldiers).
And on top of all of that, the last SCOTUS involvement with the 2nd amendment (miller vs. us) in the '30s affirmed that the 2nd was for military style arms of the times, which at the time didn't include full auto and sawed off shotguns, which is what Miller got busted for... so yeah, it *should* mean that my FAL, AK, and AR15 should all be full auto capable, etc:)
Although I think those shows (her, and Wapner, et. al) actually pay the parties out of a kitty based on judges ruling, then whatever is left over is split between them...
then suddenly they're in more direct competition with other low-budget, low-power, ruggedized PCs
Out of curiosity, what other devices are in the same market? I mean, my Nokia 770 is certianly low budget (now) and low power, but I actually use it so I've not tested how rugged it is with my 2 kids under 7....
And if they really cared, they'd provide "updates" that break the OS completely... Sure, some honest folks who bought computers from dishonest "local dealers", etc. will get burnt but MS has already said they were willing to fix those people up with valid licenses if they reported who they got the machine/os from...
And some have been playing quakeworld even longer.
But what provides the good game play isn't the level design or storyline of the game - its playing against the "perfect AI" - other humans. At that point, it doesn't matter about the map design (looks, not layout), whether you have 256 varying colors of brown/grey/etc. vs. 16bit color, etc. It is about meeting other humans and beating them (or being beaten)...
For #2, offer the main channel and include hte add-ons for free. At least in most of those cases (multiple discoverys, fine/food, etc) the content offered is similar and probably would have some overlap of people who want it.
Strange... we have our instructors post the ISBN numbers of course materials on "information pages" for our online courses, and most (90%+) put it on the syllabus, etc. for on-campus courses. Don't see what the big deal is...
Yeah, I'm a weird one when it comes to that. I like Freedom, and I like free, but I really like a stable OS where standards aren't broken/bastardized.
I don't mind binary blob drivers for my nVidia card - its the best hardware at the moment. I'll be happy to pay full retail for Acrobat Professional, the product formerlly known as the Macromedia Dreamweaver Suite (DW, Flash, Fireworks), etc. for Linux, and I won't get bitchy about source access. Heck, I'd pay for the windows version *if* it were packaged with a custom Wine that would let it Just Work. I really don't care - I just want the best tool for the job. Unfortunately for me, Windows isn't one of 'em...
Shame... id is one of the companies I've always financially supported buy buying at least one copy (if not 2 or 3) of their games, *especially* with explicit Linux support (or from a Linux friendly retailer).
Wonder if I should go ahead and open that unopened l33t tin edition of Q3 for Linux...
But is there a moral difference between not downloading the ad vs. not seeing the ad? For example, I use my userContent.css file to not display advertisements in older versions of Mozilla (I like the full suite of apps darn it!). *My* bandwidth is still used to get the file, *their* webserver still logs a request for/advert.php?foo.... but I never see the ad. As long as the request for the advert is made and it is sent, does it matter if someone sees it? Of course, if they don't see it they can't click it, but still...

With my 770 I am able to connect outside with LOS to the AP at over 100 yards... AP is one of the cisco/aironet setups...
They should pull an Apple and take a BSD and use that as a base to start over....
And Ubuntu doesn't have an /etc/inittab either...
Actually, the kernel is no longer open... just about all the rest of darwin is tho...
Use the anti-RIAA/MPAA tactic and buy used, hopefully from some CEO who has to have this months model of stuff, etc.

Believe it or not, a lot of us grew up without the "zero tolerance" bs...
Personally, I can't wait to see how "zero tolerance" goes up against the castle doctrine law we have here in Florida... esp. since I have kids

Check out The Battle of Athens, Tennessee. 1946.
Not only that, but there is a history of vote fraud... and not in '00 or '04...
Armed rebellion against the government, over vote fraud. Remember the 4 boxes... well #4 got used in 1946 in Athens, Tenn. Google "Battle of Athens".
Judge Judy!

Better than what they do normally - just take books, etc. from your luggage and keep 'em....

/etc/inittab isn't in Ubuntu.... replaced by stuff in /etc/event.d
Hey, it makes it *really* easy to write a small script that will wget the appropriate files...
