I don't delete 'em. I log in to various sites that use them (that I want to use them), then I close the browser and then make the cookies.txt file read-only (chmod or chattr, or attrib). Get the benefit for sites I want the customizations on, don't get the tracking
Actually, one of my big complaints about both emerge and apt-get is figuring out what the name of the package you want to install, or what it is listed by in the package availability database.
And what is the use of 16000 Debian packages when I can only run very few of them in 32 MB RAM?
Don't say that to the P-75 with 24mb ram at one of the offices I support. It doesn't know that it has too little ram to run exim, apache, samba, hylafax, courier imap-d, squirrelmail, and a few shell scripts to turn it into a fax server.
Until you get that phone call from the wife/girlfriend - "Oh, honey, on your way [home|over] would you be a dear and stop by and pick up some tampons for me..."
At which point you will probably grab whatever has a brand name on it you recognize and get the heck out of hte store as quick as you can.
You forgot fark.com, slashdot.org, news.google.com, groups.google.com and various fora for your particular kink/interest/desire (I've got lots of aquarium links lately in my bookmarks)
Why? Being able to call a program by name - via system, exec, or whatever - and passing an argument or 12 is easy to do with just about any language. And a program that is written to properly deal with arguments passed on the command line (or proper substitution for such) shouldn't really care what method it is envoked with.
(disclaimer - not a professional programmer, but i've been playing with a handful of languages since TRS-80 basic was new)
Get with Apple, do a (probably relatively minor) code revision to iTunes for the selection/shopping engine and DRM (face it, its gonna have it in some fashion) and add video support, maybe do some more work to use distributed downloading like bittorrent or have multiple mirrors in network-close proximity (work with cable and satellite cos?) to users, and have at it.
I'd sorta there with you, but I live in a relatively decent redneck bible-belt community. I think they get the DVDs and VHS tapes from some other pawn shop or used media outlet - many of the VHS tapes are obviously from some rental place ("Be Kind - Rewind" stickers, industrial strenght cases, etc). Of course, from some other pawnshop they likely are stolen at some point, just by someone else's local heroin junky (as opposed to one of mine as some AC points out below).
The real secret to cheap dvds is pawn shops. I've gotten most of the "classic" disney movies on dvd from a local pawn shop slowly over the past year - never paid more than $8 for one of 'em.
Well, you could get an old pentium 2/3 with 128mb (or more) ram and a 10gb drive for under $200 with shipping.... Don't want to start on the bsd vs linux or linux distro choice part of building a router though.
oh yeah, there is also that little added benefit of a trained military force being the only thing between you being able to post self-righteous crap like this and you being forced to obey the whims of some dictator.
Funny, I thought that was what the 2nd Amendment was there for...
Heh. I went to a convention where wireless users had to show that they had AV software installed before being given the connection info. Had my Linux laptop there, they wouldn't let me on until I could show them some antivirus software running. Left, came back an hour later (after breakfast), and ran my "anti virus software".
#!/bin/bash echo Scanning memory for viruses... sleep 2 echo OK. System clean.
Actually, wasn't the first Yale lock fairly unpickable for quite some time? IIRC something about it being on display with a reward for successful picking...OK just googled, it wasn't a Yale but rather Mr. Chubb's...
No, the brilliant part was the little widget thingie that makes it like a *real* Guinness... They've had stout in bottles for years.
Until you run (webct) Vista on a Vista machine and use Vista as a client OS to connect to it...
WebCT's enterprise level course delivery software is Vista as well...

Spider Robinson did a similar themed story once too, 2 books that got merged into one. Deathkiller (and Mindkiller too I think)

You mean a swap file?

Skipped the 386 completely, the 486 IBM PS/2 I have (still have it) had only the single 1.44 drive
Weak? Remember a few years back when 486s, the "new" pentiums, and pentium pro chips were fine for servers?
Lets not forget the 2.88 floppy drives that IBM PS/2 286s came with. Use 720k, 1.44mb, or 2.88mb disks.
Still got mine in a box somewhere...
Strange. XP Pro installed fine (orignial, not a SP cd) on a Dell GX270 with SATA hard drive for me last week ....

The mysterious step 2 is solved.

Except IBM mainframes tend to call home and a tech is at your site before you typically know there is a problem... drastic failuers not included.
You'd think, but sparc is different. Just like PPC is different, and a 1.8ghz mac kicks butt, a 600mhz sparc can really fly.

Happened to my Mom last year when she went to LA to see her mother. Waiter at a *very* fancy resturant decided to keep a copy of her card.
