I don't know much about Mac's, but it sounds kind of strange for it to be randomly locking up.

One thing you might want to check is: Where have you physically placed the machine? Is it getting good ventilation? I would assume a G5 produces a bunch of heat, and if you have stuffed it into a cupboard or something, it may be overheating.

    Just an idea.

    Awesome post.
I also commend you for having the balls to post spiritual (although notably religous) material on a site where you could so easily receive redicule for mentioning faith.

  6. BAND. Tell him to learn an Instrument. on Building Social Skills in Gifted Youths? · · Score: 2, Insightful

My comment may be too late.
It sounds lame, but band is really a great way to break into being somewhat social. If the kid shows any sort of musical aptitude you should tell him to get some private lessons on an instrument (of his choice) and then to join his school band. If he chooses trumpet though, be careful because he may become an arrogant prick :).
Band consists af a whole bunch of other nerds and geeks, but from varying backgrounds of geekdom. Also, there usually tends to be quite a few other strangelings in there so he won't feel alone.
Band will create a social environment where people _must_ interact with him, and he _must_ interact with others. By the time he gets into high school, he will at least have basic social skills.
Also, you are almost gauranteed a woman if you are in band due to the "band inbreeding" effect.

    Have fun,

That poor girl is definately uncomfortable. Watch her breaths. I thought that maybe the film was sped up, but there is a part where she moves her arm, and it looks like natuaral speed. Whether it is the robot hurting her or the dirty camera man grinning as he films at her naked body I cannot tell.

Yes. This brand new technology is acheived by using a photo transistor to detect photons and then creates a copy of the photons at a different location using a special new device called a Light Emitting Diode.

  12. Re:XP is simply dreadful...my wife wants Linux now on Microsoft Responds to Leaked Memo · · Score: 0

I believe your problem is the HP system itself. Did it come with XP preinstalled? If so, I suggest reformatting the whole thing. Reinstall XP using her ProductID. If the system came with a restore CD, don't use it. Borrow a CD and reinstall fresh, but use the ProductID given to you with the system. This should fix your problem. The same thing happened to my sister with her HP. Just a suggestion, but if she really is interested in Linux, why are you letting her use such a primative operating system such as any type of Windows? -Heath
