On one hand they're trying to teach kids flawed views on intellectual property to ensure that future generations won't pirate as much, and on the other hand they're doing exactly what they're trying to prevent, the theft of intellectual property.
Are there any projects / discussions regarding password expirations linked to password complexities?
If I chose a password of "random", the computer could reject it and now allow me to use it.
If I chose a password of "r4nd0m11" it may allow me to use it for a month due to it being complex.
If a chose a password of "1tst00b4dth4t1c4ntyp3l33tsp3aks0w311", it may allow me to use it for 3 months.
All of this could be controlled by a policy created/configured by the system administrator and could include things like:
- Does the password have letters and numbers - Does the password contain non-numerical/alpha numbers (!@#$%^& etc) - Does the password contain more than X characters
So on and so forth. Based on that criteria, it would then set the expiration on that password to the sysadmin configured timeframe.
I am an Investigator in Australia for an Insurance Company and we have had a couple of occasions where fake plastic notes have been given to us and I can say that on at least one occasion, the fake was very hard to detect.
It appeared that two pieces of a plastic type material were stuck together, and did have the clear window on it, however the slightly raised dollar value in the clear plastic were not raised, just imprinted.
Although millions of dollars are spent to prevent this type of activity occurring, millions of dollars are spent to do this type of activity.
Since the early days, you've always been someone who has used drugs, particularly LSD. Do you think this has altered your perception of reality?
Although this is not really a computer/security/phreaking related question, I feel that it is an interesting one, nonetheless, as I met you in the mid ninties in Australia, and found it to be quite a strange experience.
that no matter how hard they try to make an example of one particular program that it just breeds the media hype and another 100 similar programs appear?
P2P is here to stay, and it will just continue to get better for those who use them, and worse for those who oppose them.
Is this really such a good idea, keeping in mind the terrorist attacks last year? Bare with me, I do have a point.
I'm one for privacy and also for secure ways of doing things on the internet, BUT, and its a BIG BUT, think of the other uses this could have, especially for terrorists. This sort of thing could give more fuel to the fire for governments to try to crack down on the internet and create more of a big brother state where they are able to monitor everything and encryprion is outlawed.
On the other hand, think about the earlier post today from Chris Tresco, where he says that encryption is only as strong as your weakest link. What if one of the machines along the way was compromised? Could it be used to monitor data and then be analysed to connect the dots so to speak?
None-the-less, I think it's an interesting project and wish them the best of luck.
I'm am fully agreed with the comments made in the article. The flaws exist, some a large, some are HUGE.
I am a really big Star Wars fan, and for me it simply boils down to the fact that is a classic tale of Good vs Evil.
No matter how cheesey it may appear at some times (The sound of music scene sticks in my mind), I sitll thoroughly enjoy a good tale of Good vs Evil.
The main reason this movie was my favorite is the fact that you get to see Yoda kick some ass and in what I believe was a realistic way for Yoda to act as a Jedi.
The real problem lies with people are too eager to give their real identity away over the internet. People should really start to think logically (and yes I know this is hard for a young child or teenager), but if common sense is applied, you should know that giving your name, address, phone number and pantie size to a stranger you've never met in real life is a tad stupid.
I remember when I was young and my parents told me about "stranger danger". You didn't see parents saying "DON'T GO OUTSIDE, ITS DANGEROUS" back then. They taught their children right and wrong, common sense and most importantly, if something doesn't feel right, don't do it.
Conclusion: Don't ruin something that you don't understand for those of us that do understand.
Is that why there have been so many deaths surrounding the manufacture of Apple products?
you're a tool!

How hypocritical are Microsoft appearing?
On one hand they're trying to teach kids flawed views on intellectual property to ensure that future generations won't pirate as much, and on the other hand they're doing exactly what they're trying to prevent, the theft of intellectual property.
Such sad, sad, little people.

Just a though.
Or you could have waited for a rerun I guess?
:)
Although, me being in Australia, I also download the latest Losts and 24s
This is intellectual property of Apple, and should be treated as such.
He pirated software, he should pay the penalty.
No sympathy here.
I beat the internet, the boss on the last level was really hard.

"I noticed this firsthand the other day, but only when I was searching for pictures of famous people, but all my technical queries came back fine."
Famous people Google Search: "Courtney Cox getting a facial"
Results: "Courtney Cox advertises facial creme from Loreal"
Technical Google Search: "How do best use lube and type one handed"
Results: "www.pinkbits.com"
"No-one has ever called me a cool dude. I'm somewhere between geek and normal," he said.
Linus, You're a cool dude.
/me prepares for flamebait ratings.

This shaft has been known for quite some time. Why has it taken so long to finally explore what many believe may be a significant find?
Where can I get the original without the mozilla modifications?

It'd be great if they could apply this sort of technology to previously recorded works of art like any movie with Ron Jeremy or John Holmes in it.
I'd certainly like to feel like I'm there in the action when Ron's banging some latino chick in the ass and she's begging for more!
Then again, maybe you didn't have anything to do this weekend?
Maybe Michael takes what he does seriously and you on the other hand like to bad mouth other peoples work?
IS it because you hate your parents? Were you abused as a child? Don't hate yourself or blame yourself, blame and hate your parents, not others.
Who'd be suing who?
MPAA vs NASA
RIAA vs NAMBLA
FBI vs CIA
NSA vs KGB
TOO many lawsuits from TOO many companies with TOO many acronyms.
definately gabber
nothing better than some mind pounding bass to get my creative juices flowing..
