My use case is these bulbs are replacing 55W bulbs in six in-ceiling can lights. This makes them directional as the light just has to shoot down. The lights are spaced out across my ceiling so this is a best case scenario for LED lights.

If you can only stand 100W bulbs you likely won't find LED lights that match your requirements. I guess you could get a few of the Phillips Natural light lamps to make it seem like you have the sun blaring in your room.

The only issue I have with them is that they don't produce heat so my office gets cold in the winter. I then end up turning on another computer to warm it up, take that energy savings.

What do you mean about Detroit and legal gun ownership? Michigan has very liberal conceal carry laws, and I know several professionals who work in Detroit and legally carry concealed pistol just in case.

There were also stories several months ago about some break-ins in Detroit where the home owners shot the intruders. One of these was a guy in his 80s that killed one of the intruders with his shotgun. The media presented him as a hero, and there was no information about any charges against him as he was within Michigan's CASTLE law.

Michigan as well as Detroit have open carry laws, you might be hassled by the police for carry around a shotgun or rifle strapped across your back but I (IANAL) don't believe it's against a law anywhere. To conceal your weapon you need a conceal carry license, and the gun being concealed must be registered to the person with the CC permit. To get a CC you must complete a CC training course and fill out a form and pay a fee.

The only reason the majority of Detroit citizens couldn't own a gun would be if the majority of them are convicted felons. This is also not the case contrary to what you've heard on the news.

"Typically, it's not possible," Rob told me. "In the case of a stolen system, the only way we could do it is if you registered your 3DS. Like if you signed up for Club Nintendo. We'd have to be able to confirm the serial number." Because, apparently, tying your credit-card info to the system is not enough for some reason.

The main reason is this generation is running too long. The original Playstation came out in the US in 1995, the Playstation 2 2000, and the Playstation 3 2006. The Xbox 360 came out in 2005, it will be eight years old by the time the next revision comes out, the Playstation 3 will be seven years old. And the Wii was outdated when it was launched.

In past console generations the games looked a year or two ahead of what was available on a PC when they were launched. With this generation PCs were about a year or two ahead of the consoles when they were launched.

Developers are limited fully by the console hardware as they know how to pull the maximum performance from them, but with PC you will have about a decade of improvements (if the PC was two years ahead of the 360, it is 2003 tech and the next console will hopefully launch in 2013).

The cost of entry isn't stopping anyone. Console were always niche devices. You can't claim $200 is too much to spend when people were blowing more than that on arcade quality joysticks when Street Fighter IV was released.

The biggest thing this console generation has done is made it easier to game on a PC. You can buy a PC for $500 that will play any game out on the market at higher quality than the current consoles. Spend $800-1000 and you'll have a PC that will be as powerful as the rumored specs for this "next gen" consoles that are coming.

What about Playstation Mobile which was previously called Playstation Suite? The SDK is currently free, and while you can't sell games though it yet you can develop games for the Vita, Sony Smartphones, and Tablets. They are also supposedly porting the Suite to other Android devices.

The SDK is based off of C#, and smartphone developers have said porting existing iOS and Android apps over is very easy.

How exactly did Sony fail to make a functioning game ecosystem? They have the traditional store bought physical cartridges (or you can buy the same games digitally), digital only smaller games that have had several good releases, PSP Minis which are cheap $1-$5 games which where some are ported mobile phone games, and finally they have Playstation Suite which will allow mobile developers to target the Vita and other mobile platforms.

For the record I have a smart phone, tablet, and Vita. While portable gaming with a d-pad and buttons can work for some types of games like a puzzle game, or rhythm game, there are a ton of games that suck with touchscreen controls. I cringe every time I see a game that tries to emulate an analog stick and buttons on the edges of the screen. The Vita offers tradition d-pad, buttons, dual analog sticks, touch screen, back touch, six axis tilt, and front/rear cameras as control options. So those games that work well with touch can be played like that, but you have a ton of other great options.

We'll just have to see how this every kid wants an iPad plays out when the WiiU comes out this fall. If Nintendo launches $250-300 they should do very well. They are giving people an iPad with physical controls on it. If they can come up with some way to allow uploading of games to onboard memory to be played away from home they will recreate the success of the Wii.
