A key got stuck on my Dell laptop about a week ago. I sent a message to tech support through support.dell.com, and they replied that the easiest thing to do would be to replace the keyboard. I got the keyboard the day after next (I messaged them after hours, so it couldn't have shipped until the next day), and replaced it myself. Thing is, unless you send them the broken part back (they send a prepaid return label with the replacement), they charge you for the replacement. For high-rent items like screens, they'd probably test to make sure that you weren't lying whenever you submitted your support ticket.
It has nothing to do with contracts, actually. There is no contract entered into when purchasing a CD. What prevents someone from being able to distribute RIAA members' songs is copyright.
No, that's not the point. The point is to add another law to the "everybody is a criminal" set of laws that are already in existence. Now to arrest, they can categorize something you said as hate speech and arrest you for it.
It will also be easy to make CDs look bad. The recording studios will probably artificially reduce the sound quality of the files they put on CDs so that they sound bad in comparison to the newer formats.
It doesn't appear to work when clicking on a result of a Google search, either. I tried searching from within the toolbar and clicking on a link and searching in the textbox on Google, and nothing. Oh well, maybe it will be fixed in the next revision!
I just installed the toolbar from the page linked, and there is a blank spot in the middle of the toolbar that displays "PageRank" when I hover over it with the cursor. I visited several pages, and no number has shown up there yet. I'm using FreeBSD, but should that present a problem? There were no errors on install and the toolbar seems like it showed up ok...
In reality this is more like preventing you from going anywhere where a murder might happen. Then you'll be prevented from going anywhere where a rape might happen...then anywhere where you might jaywalk.
Boy that would make it a better place now wouldn't it? It's not as if this blocking will keep anyone from getting hurt, and it's not as if most of what they'll initially block isn't already illegal.
If you're confused about how the directory hierarchy in a typical Unix-ish system should be setup, consult man hier, or if your distro failed to include that, see this hier man page.
I don't know what version of XP you are using, but on the XP boxes at work, I know that 'ls' is there by default because I accidentally typed it in one day and it happened to work. The version of XP I am referring to is XP Pro (corporate I guess, it's site licensed to my school).
While there are easy ways to install packages (pkg_add -r, as mentioned in another post), I can't really see a reason not to upgrade from source. Take a look at/etc/defaults/make.conf, copy it to/etc/make.conf and make whatever changes you need. Then install the sysutils/portupgrade package. Add a couple lines like so to your new make.conf:
I personally like the option in kmail to display all email as plain text. If the email is in html, there is a link right above the message that allows you to view the message as html if you trust the sender. I'm sure the other graphical email readers such as evolution and thunderbird support that, but I haven't really used them.
Note: This is an HTML message. For security reasons, only the raw HTML code is shown. If you trust the sender of this message then you can activate formatted HTML display for this message by clicking here.
Well, the mammoth didn't become extinct until about 14000 years ago. I don't understand what your point is about a fossil from a mammal with a relatively recent extinction period. The extinction may have actually been later than that. People aren't entirely sure when it happened, but it is certain that modern humans and mammoths had a fairly large intersection of existence.

You like having nice, well-maintained roads to drive that car on, right?
You realize he's talking about Florida, right?

What, might I ask, does your xterm have to do with a console?

Hate to break it to you, bub! It's a piece of jargon that's been documented at least since 1994.
I forgot something. If you don't already have a cvsup client installed, you should install it first by using 'pkg_add -r cvsup-without-gui'
While there are easy ways to install packages (pkg_add -r, as mentioned in another post), I can't really see a reason not to upgrade from source. Take a look at /etc/defaults/make.conf, copy it to /etc/make.conf and make whatever changes you need. Then install the sysutils/portupgrade package. Add a couple lines like so to your new make.conf:
s -supfile"
/usr/share/examples/cvsup/ports-supfile to your "somewhere" dir and change the server listed in that file to one of the cvs mirrors.
/usr/ports && make update && portupgrade -ak
SUP_UPDATE="yes"
PORTSSUPFILE="/somewhere/port
then copy
Now, to update, all you need to do is something like:
cd
That will update all packages from source using your compiler options. Your system will still be usable while that's going on.
remember now, we're not talking about Guinness here, we're talking about the nasty stuff that Starbucks et al serves
Nah, he said the patent papers were in, so he shouldn't have a problem with mentioning them in public at this stage!

with your personal identification number number, how else?
What would that page normally do? Whenever I clicked, it just opened to a blank page. I even changed my browser ID to IE6 on XP and it stayed blank.
so...if you had 10 rooms, the average room would be what, about 1200 cubic feet?
You did indeed...I was braindead and appear to have missed that...
Sorry!!
RETAIL == no support from MS, too.
Cisco owns Linksys though. Check it out.
