OK, it is great for desktop too, but not for everybody... but the main place where Linux progresses the fastest is in the space with less user interaction ie. the embedded and server space where the user does not care what OS is in use.
Some cameras can do a few million fps. These are mainly used in applications like analysis of stresses during explostions etc. I once used one of these cameras to watch det cord burning at 7000 metres per second. We used the slowest setting on the camera (approx 250kfps).
Practical pistol shooting (ie shooting targets in a "combat situation" with handguns) is considered by some to be a martial art. Bet those 9mm bullets go faster than any sabre:-).
Open protocols are very important. Consider what happens when, say, MS controls a protocol.
Even when MS writes portable applications, they limit the devices where they can be used. For an example of where this occurs, look at their WinCE family devices. To get a license for, say, PocketWord, you must have PocketPC. To get a license for PocketPC you must have a form factor that looks pretty much like an ipaq (ie screen of a certain size, exact set up of keys etc). Microsoft controls everything through their licensing. If someone was to want to get creative and make a device that looks different or has a different feature set then you will not get licenses for the applications you want.
These licenses are done in the name of "user interaction" ie to ensure that the software works consistently for the user, but is also commoditises the mobile devices and gives the control of the device architectures to MS and HP (their biggest licensee).
To get any creativity into mobile space requires open standards.
You don't need kernel integration to get security problems. A user app auto launched from an email (yup even a Windows one if you have Wine) could cause a lot of grief, especially with Lindows-like "run as root" mentality.
Remember the whole motivation is pump and dump. Do stuff to fuel the stock price. If you look at the 2 year chart for SCOX they managed to get from approx $2 to $25 (ie 10x) and are still approx 2x the stock price of 18 months back.
If you'd bought SCOX 2 years ago you'd have made 150% profit compared to IBM 0%. With good timinging you;d have made over 2000% per year which is a good return.
Of course if we limit the view to the immediate present and the future then SCOX is dying, but surviving was never part of Darl's strategy. He threy the company in the fire, got a big blaze that attracted attention, made some people big money and lost some people big money and at the end leaves just ashes.
If you're getting fussy about your English, then you should have uses "its" instead of "it's". "its" is used for the posessive form (no '). "it's" is the contraction for "it is".
You could make a reasonable skin with 2 micron plastic. A 10cmx10cmx2micron of plastic will weigh approx 0.02g. Might interfere with the airflow and lift though.
and perhaps only 10-15% have every used the www. For the forseeable future most social interactions will happen how they happened 50 or 100 years ago. People sitting around and talking, people walking and talking,...
to install SP2 then they probably are not up to understanding and managing these port doohickeys. What's the bet most people just open all the ports up again.
For so long, the "Microsoft advantage" has been trying to make life easier for Joe and Janet Sixpack. Forcing port management on these folk is not going to win MS any friends.
Often when I'm exploring for stuff I find that the Opera ads box proves useful finding a few extra things (almost like having Google running in parallel to what you're surfing). OK, a very limited search, but none the less sometimes useful
But the eyecandy graphics just sounds like a complete waste. WTF does this do for anybody?
MS probably patented this already, but I'm thinking of chopping one of my hands off so that I don't get left and right mixed up any more. Of course, even though I'm right handed I'll keep the left hand. The left one is the one that's left. There easy to remember!
At least when they head out on the old internet, they know that there are threats and will take action. In a private network they'd be more likely to be lulled into a false sense of security and prhaps have intrusions that they are not aware of.
So far what evidence is there that computers save work. Sure some work has been replaced (eg. manual calculation), but it has been replaced with more complex work (typed report->3d bar graph spreadsheet etc). Nett labour has increased due to computers. Ditto paperless office: computers generate more paper than the paper based systems that they replace.
Therefore I don't have high hopes for energy saving via a new energy saving system. I can see visions of technicians rushing around in gas-guzzling trucks to go install/upgrade/repair sensors. Once all the sums are done I don't expect an energy saving.

Will be fixed in SP3!

It won't stop me upgrading from KDE2.x that I currently have installed.

How well do drugs burn? Could use the payload as fuel.
Gotta work with Firefox guys. Firefox is the one true pure test.
pay closer attention to the attendant's eyes. No just proves the drug theories proposed above.
12g - 8.6g = 3.4g battery. Can carry a spare and a half and fly for a few more minutes.
That the journalists laughed means something though. For the most part they've seen a lot and are relatively immune to stupidity.
Read yesterday's Dilbert.... It's all about design, not function.

You pay for that passport you need so that big brother can keep control of your travels.
You pay a post-9/11 tax for air travel so that Uncle Sam can buy more cameras to watch travellers.
So how is paying for a wire tap any different?
Unregistered Operas have an ad box. I'm using one now. As I said before this doesn't bug me except from chomping some screen space.

Then I can ..... oh wait!
