    For me, DAPPERx64 has been a rock-solid production box OS. It's hit a sweet-spot of automagic admin and *nix flexibility, stepping ahead of the M$ product. The revolution is over and the good-guys won. From HH I expect no amazement, just the next-step-up.

    What? I aggressively "non-administrate" my use_everyday Dapperx64 box. On principle. Lusrs have no business scr*wing with their OS. Ubuntu has performed admirably for a year. Self-installed, self-configured and self-updated , both itself and nearly every app. Yep I installed GRASS myself and didn't bust-a-gut.

    Who can't do what? Joe 6-pk lusr?? For years ( y-e-a-r-s ) UBUNTU has been easier to install and configure than any M$ product. And with few exceptions, the *nix apps have been fully functional and in some cases (ex)GRASS - are the superior software in-class.

    Yep ... it's looking that way -- for VISTA. Right now my DAPPERx64 install performs better. And I'm certainly no byteboyz. Unless *NIX commits suicide, the release of LTS_8.x in April '08 will nail the M$ coffin shut.
