I mean all they need to do is double the power, increase ram to 92m or so... give it a built in real ethernet port (why did they asses choose firewire?, usb was usefull but underutilized, make it usb2 now) Redesign the box to look sleeker, symetrical. Add a HD to it, and at least it then could show current games at a better speed/detail/with FSAA and HD storage, not these lameass memory cards 5x CF prices.
They change the interface so that people have to do a new MCSE2003 and buy new books etc.. fueling a billion $ economy...
Welcome to FORCED CAPITALISM.
Much like schools are their text books being changed every year, but the content is identical just on different pages with different assignments. The govt needs to make books and make them cheap/free on CD/web.
Life in antarctica survives under those conditions.... your conclusion?
Besides NASA should give UNEDITED r/g/b maps of images, not color adjusted images coz they think it should look red. Well, if mars sky is red, then why are its polar caps white? not pink? If you can see the ground well, then the sky isnt that THICK in dust really, and must be blue.
1. if webservers worked fine in 1998 with 400mhz, then 800 today will be fine. (we are not running the 2004 olympics on one server here so its ok)
2. what server needs USB2 ? cameras? video devices? get outa here. 1.1 is ENOUGH!!
3. the point is that if X company wants 20 boxes stacked as a rendering farm or crack server, or game servers, then its easy just to order and plugin, no ones gona hack away for 500 hrs building 30 servers by hand.
But on the other hand, id love to have an OQO , stack like 4000 of them in one room and make a super computer fit in one 19inch rack box. might get very hot though....
Amazing that somethings that are complex and take a lot of effort to make have small margins, ie. say a P4 CPU or a CAR. Now look at POTATOES, they are sold at 300 to 500 percent markup. Infact most food is sold at huge markups and the farmer gets like a few dollars per tonne. ie milk, carrots, etc... all are extremely cheapass , but the big stores mark it up massively, no wonder they return great profits/dividends.
Pitty that a bag of potatoes cant be sold for 40% margin like say... canned tuna.
seriously, $5 movie ticket, afternoon off, that is nothing compared to what sales/marketing get..... like so called 'conferences in hawaii'.... come on !.. dumb ass marketing gets treated better than developers and they get commission, id like to see all programmers get commission too, ie 5% divided between the core engineers for X product. HA! more like the boss will increase his salary from 190k to 220k
you could hire an indian to 'listen' to you speak and type what you say over the phone from india for $3/day salary. And you can fake it by saying its a computer doing it.
then how come all those 100000s of fake porn websites, (ie. one single page appearing in 1000000 links and 1000s of domains and fake-sounding-domains.com/super_cool_girlies.html )
I want to search for X, but never repeat the same domain twice in the list, and the other stuff appear as a tree, ie all results that are from XYZ domain are under XYZ triangle |>
very strange since even amature telescope photos of the ISS are OK looking, so surely something that is 100x better would be WHOPPINGLY excellent.
I guess the hardest part is locking on to a moving object, can any normal telescope in the science workd do that? ie lock on to something moving fast, instead of a star/planet/comet. (2min in the sky)
If you can format it and put a new set of 100gig of games on it instead of mp3s, then you cant claim you can still read those old mp3s, because then the 100gig drive could then really store 200gig.
besides RIAA wouldnt waste the dollars in undeleteing the HD etc at CIA levels.
on a budget of say, 5million, surely one linux programmer on 65k/year isnt going to kill the budget!
plus you dont have a windows and linux versions, you have BOTH damn binaries on the same CD, unless your a clueless manager that has some anal marketing reason for it.
thats so crap, i mean in australia we have 1000's of shops in city centers selling BONGS, even at markets, tobaco shops, everywhere, except perhaps the airport.
Why didnt chong say the stuff is used for tobacco?
NOTE to slash, you should make a DHTML counter to tell me when its ok to HIT SUBMIT, instead of the lame error.

In australia new games are $98, some $107 to $112.
Average games 6months old crap is about $75, or so range.
Platinum stuff is $49.95 here.
So dollar for dollar on exchange, we are ripped of 30%, these brand new titles should be $74 at the TOP MOST PRICE POINT, not $112.
Platinum should be max $35.
Btw our retail music here is average $25 to $35 per album, and $5.95-$9 for singles.

Maybe they should used 250 pound overweight fat asses as the stick figures are completely wishfull thinking and fake :)

Man those chineese are way ahead of their time, maybe they are a decendant of an alien race that always used chopsticks.

if you want to buy stuff, they google should have a 'SHOPPING' search engine section where it ONLY returns stuff that is sold in some form.
Its like I dont want to search ALL OF THE INTERNET, just the usefull parts, like if I want INFO search for * -shops -porn -blogs
This is googles missing feature, a narrower search.
but the animatrix never made it clear that it was CPU power, they still claimed it was NRG , after the nuclear war.
the massive online matrix will continue the plot where it leaves off from the movie.
then everyone can join in the matrix and do their stuff....
we shall see how it goes...

maybe they are all the unemployed IT people that have nothing else to do.
But btw is it BANNED in egypt again?
(NOTE: slashdot, if you are going to have a lame 1minute wait counter, at least make a DHTML visible counter please!!!!

wow you upgrade your development machines? my ex company i worked for that developed oracle tools barely worked out 800mhz machines.
500,000,000 CPUs at 100W each equals the global temp rising by 4 deg and 7 nuclear powerplants to run it.
Thats global warming.
What code needs to have >4gig of video compressed or raw in ram at once?
Most processes/manipulations are frame at a time. There isnt any solution which needs 64bits for video.
But for massive grunt math and having a weather sim with 1 trillion nodes, yeah.
very strange since even amature telescope photos of the ISS are OK looking, so surely something that is 100x better would be WHOPPINGLY excellent.

Surely stupid people can get charged too.
I mean, yeah go commit a murder, then claim, "hey iwas only doing my job as a flame thrower tester, but was really dumb to point it at someone"
is Ms Ham still working there?
Coz I would gave fired her ass for it.

Why cant companies if its so hard to make linux versions, just make a damn wine compatible version.
Just make it basic, and openGL and of you go.
