    OH my god, what idiot 14 yo hacker uses Xvid rather than xvid, maybe xv1d, stealing the lime light.

    Its all mpeg4 based, none of it is 100% free of patents.

    the FOURCC identifier doesnt make it GPLed

    might as well call it a '7331' codec or something.

    No one, and I mean no one has a chance and making their own custom codec, if it doesnt play EVERYWHERE, ie mpeg4 any profile, then its useless.

    In this modern age, note to scientists, no one reads paper material any more, well at least the young folk.

    So make sure their HDs are below MTBF, they surely rotate and replace harddrives >12months old regardless if they are working (who buys em?) and insert new
    ones that are DOUBLE the previous size at a cheaper cost, ie pull out an old raid 120gig * 8 setup and replace with 400 gig * 8 setup.

    Surely constantly upgrading storage devices will double their storage capacity per building.

    And their hosting servers too would double in power, with cell servers or 8core replacements.

    Unless there is a dual use roll for NSA/CIA, and yes thats possible and legal with zero disclosure under secrets acts.

    They could have designed a dynamic prioritized engine for XP to make sure GUIs immediately recieve faster
    responses during high cpu load.

    As all product managers decide, "no new features, bug fixes only" and tell marketing to give excuses that its impossible to enhance old code.

    THats because as someone else claimed before, MS rotates the new features coders onto new products, and dumps the current
    editing code onto 'code maintainers' that do nothing but fix bugs/errors, and are not allowed to enhance, even if its simple enhancements, that opensource will do
    any way, any time (unless theres a maintainer nazi).
