PEOPLE!! STOP. Stop using "theory" in regards to science as a theory in the common definition. A scientific theory is very well backed up by facts.

"In layman's terms, if something is said to be "just a theory," it usually means that it is a mere guess, or is unproved. It might even lack credibility. But in scientific terms, a theory implies that something has been proven and is generally accepted as being true."

I will personally stangle the next person who does this. Pisses me off.

My comment on "The Greying of the MainFrame Elite":
Its just that college is bullshit. That's the numbers they are tracking. All the smart geeks realize that certifications and other pieces of paper saying a person knows something in particular most of the time are complete crap. I've met many a MCSE or A+ "certified technicians" who don't know SHIT. There are plenty of non certified, non college graduate geeks out there who know more in a lot of cases than their "educated" counterparts. I currently develop multimillion dollar web apps for multinational corporations and state governments. I didn't graduate from high school. I didn't go to college. Yet I have a Doctorate of Divinity (thanks ULC!). Degrees are total bullshit. Book learning can be very helpful, but real world experience is the only thing that matters.

  17. I wish more companies did this on BBC Views Content Piracy As Wake-Up Call · · Score: 5, Insightful

    ACTUALLY LISTENED!

Look! Pay attention all who hate on piracy and despise users for doing what they want:

Google listens, gives everything away for free, yet is one of the richest and most loved companies.

BBC is just now listening to what people say,
and now we must give them respect for doing that.

MPAA recently said that they could be wrong too, and that their movies sucked. They do.

What a novel concept! Give people what they want and they won't hate you so much.

Go with the flow instead of against it. Gah, haven't you people read the Tao?

  18. Re:How about prices once you're inside? on Piracy Not To Blame In Decline of Moviegoers · · Score: 1

Surprise: People are more willing to buy movies if they don't suck, and are cheaper. So spend less money on the actors and LEGAL FEES associated with suing p2p people, and focus on plots.

Movie theaters need to post the actual times the movies start, they already started doing this in New York IIRC, and show only previews (NO ADS) before the movies.
Again, even if the movie theaters cut prices, it won't matter, because people will actually COME to the theaters and pay a reasonable price for drinks of all sizes to be FREE REFILLS and respect theaters for not being dicks and triyng to rape the consumer.

We're not idiots, but they think we are. Then they wonder why we don't want to be sheep. DUH.
