Which, of course you are not, this being April 1st.
I'd build a battery similar to the ones used to power the electronics of missiles. You have the electrolyte separated from the dry electrodes by a thin metal diaphram. Use a small explosive charge to rupture the diaphram and flow the electolyte onto the electrodes. A huge amount of immediate power and almost infinite shelf-life.
That this is significant slashdot news. The woman did the wrong thing, and didn't even do it well. What's the deal? That she hacked, or that she was caught? She fsked up and now she pays the price. Nothing to see here, folks, move along...

Ok, I'm just a humble hardware engineer that has to support a couple Linux servers. So when I have to muck with/etc I make sure I'm close to a google window where I can run for help.
I'd be very grateful for nothing more than a README file, in/etc, for each application and service that tells what the files are named and what they do. Is that so much to ask?
I'd go nuts without cow-orkers to talk too, different scenery and the social aspects of the office. I did work out of my house for a couple of years so I do have something to compare it to.
Remember that you're going to have to have your books, files, and possibly more computers at home, running up the power bill, causing wear and tear and taking up space. Think hard before you do this.
If you've spent $2M developing your infrastructure around MS development platforms another $800/whack for a server license isn't going to kill you.
I'm not so sure about that. The price per node is constantly decreasing. I don't know why you couldn't build a decently performing node for less than $500. It seems to me that to compete against linux, you'd need a per-node license cost of less than $40-$50, given that somehow running Windows would be a Good Thing for you.
Ninty percent of the slashdot crowd wouldn't have a clue as to what Techincolor was and why it was so great.
If anyone is interested, Google will tell you plenty. Technicolor is like the PDP 10 of moviemaking. It's a technically intricate process that delivers very beautiful results, probably the best results.
My daughter, when she was 10, could look at a movie on television and tell me whether or not it was shot in Technicolor.
Even worse was in LA when I couldnt buy alcohol at 20 even though i been legally drinking in bars at home for 2 years (not an ID thinkg or evfen related, just annoyed me is all)
I can top that. I joined the Army when I was 18, spent a year enjoying fine Baverian beer in Germany, while maintaining tactical nuclear weapons, got out at 20 and could no longer drink until my 21st birthday.
Pu 239, the one used in bombs has a half-live of more than 14,000 years. Perhaps you're thinking of Polonium 210, which is used as an initiator in atomic bombs and has a half life of about 140 days?
In California, we have to declare all of our out-of-state purchases that we didn't pay sales tax on and would have, had the purchases been made in-state. It's called Use Tax and we have to pay the standard sales tax on them.
Since we are a business, we have to keep records and submit to audits. I've been told that the state office that handles use tax compliance audits rakes in over $4000 per hour of audit time.
Fuck you poser. As to being in the real world, I was fixing minicomputers when you were pissing diapers. I have a 2 million dollar company of my own and a 1/2 million dollar house. What have you got?

You work on computers, you must be really, really smart.
Cut to 80's. You work on computers? Can you put 640k of RAM in my PC?
Cut to 90's. You work on computers? Can you fix my sound card?
Cut to 00's. You work on computers? I think my machine has a virus, could you look at it?
Worse than Rodney Dangerfield...

You should be able to produce 150W+ with that for a short while (an hour or two)
You're in a hellofalot better shape than me. The best I can do is 75 watts for 45 minutes.
The way I heard it:
All an electrician needs to know to get a union card
1. 110 will shock you
2. 220 will kill you
3. 4:30 is quitting time
4. The boss is a sonnofabitch
The only thing a plumber needs to know:
1. Shit don't run uphill
how does this compare to legislation in other parts of the world?
In a word, badly. In another word, Fsked.
I've done all my phone and network cable, about 1200 feet, myself and generally wouldn't trust someone else to do it. Sorry.
What part of contract don't they understand?
I ask them to send me an email with their name and address formatted exactly as is their custom.

Unless it is Beowulf Clusters of endless robot armies of a woman scorned.
That the corporate attorney that wrote the first 'draft' is on the street looking for another job right now.
Especially when they turn it up to eleven
I might as well just fsking kill myself now.

Or closer to reality, I'd hate to be the guy that sysprepped and cloned all the nodes and found out I did it wrong.

How will this affect South Park???

any sane person would just pull out a photo ID and be on their way.
No, any sheep would pull out a photo ID. I, for one am glad that Gilmore has the time, money and motivation to follow through on this.
I bet you show your receipt at the door at Fry's too...
Listen to the parent. I've worked with raised floors and he's right. They accumulate a huge mess, can't easily be cleaned and are still a big PITA.
