I must say I'm impressed! I've been playing this game with said community for months now, and on the alleg.net forums, people have actually discussed trying to buy the source code from MS. Now that it's out there, I really can't wait to see what kind of mods the community will come out with.
My respect for MS just jumped up a notch... Still negative, but closer to zero.
"It might also be possible to grow human sperm in mice, although the team agree this would be a controversial move."
GUARD 1: It's not a question of whether it's controversial! It's a simple question of size ratios! A five-inch mouse cannot carry a one-foot human baby!
GUARD 2: Well suppose two mice carried it together
Keep in mind that there is a national standard for the bar codes on licenses and registrations, but every state follows different pieces of it.
There is a subset of required fields, but after that, each state government adopting the standard chooses what to encode. There are also custom fields, so each state can do their own thing entirely. Some states actually encode your license PICTURE in the barcode, so when it's scanned, the officer can display your photo on a handheld and verify that the license is legit.
I could relate a rather annoying story of trying to write a decoding program for a certain state's license, that uses a proprietary image format... But I'll refrain. The company controlling said format is STILL sending me junk e-mail...
I don't need a camera that plays games or takes pictures. All I need is one that lets me talk (Or pretend to talk) to people... Simple, right?
That said, I'd also like it to play MP3s, balance my checkbook, do my taxes, handle my business calls, cook my meals..........
This is a great idea (Though I'm sure people will find countless flaws that I didn't notice)...
Unfortunately, the "industry" does provide ONE service that isn't taken into account here... Recording studios. The artists still need a way to make a clean, professional recording of their music, and I'm sure the "industry" will find some way to forcibly bundle the rest of their "services" with that.
Hate to nitpick, but this isn't a zeroth law situation. Since the reactor is going to harm humans (A large number of them), the first law suffices to force this action.
I'd give a better example, but the only one I can think of would ruin it for anyone planning on reading the third Lije Bailey book.
Wow, the article is so influential and well-written that the admins on gamestudios.org must have started a LAN match and crashed the server...
No, this has nothing to do with anything written in the article... I just can't get the site to load... Heh...
Ever since the first time I saw a computer science lab full of iMacs, I've had no respect for anything related to Apple... Just too depressing... Yeah, so they've adopted *nix... Too little, too late...
So you just wear a wristband and no one can steal your data... A bright blue wristband with the IBM logo on it, the perfect complement to your business attire!

"It's a little pet you can raise and feed and train... And if you don't feed it, it DIES! Didja hear that? It DIES!!! Isn't that awesome?"

It's only a matter of time before the terrorists are using tiny flying robots with tiny bombs. So what's the solution?
Why, a S.W.A.T. team, of course.
What's the next step?
Sierra will have to put out a new version of their SWAT game...
Valve will have to give fly swatters to the counter-terrorists
The CIA will develop a partnership with the makers of the insect repellent "OFF!"
All mosquito nets and window screens will have to be replaced with Faraday cages.
And with all the new anti-flying-robot security, the West Nile Virus will be completely extinguished.
See? Think positive!

Nah, MS just wants the government to use nothing but THEIR software, so Big Bad Billy can cruise through the DoJ sites with his secret backdoor :)
