    So, you mean it's easier for a newbie to make a demo. But when doing anything serious, like writing a game engine, that wrapper stuff only accounts for about 0.000000001% of the development effort.

    I call bullshit. DirectX is only marginally easier at best. If you're implementing a game engine your going to need people at top of field, regardless whether it's OpenGL or DirectX

    In fairness, they did not spend much effort on the cooling solution. The iMac is a PC crammed into a tiny box and it's virtually silent. The difference is that Apple invested a huge amount of development into the heatsink design.

    it is skimming, but if you are paying a penny for every share you buy or sell, you are effectively paying the HFT guys the same amount that you pay your broker

    It's quite impressive that even though it's still 28nm, the GPU has 38% reduction in leakage current. That comes from improvements in the 28nm process. You would only get those sort of improvements by moving to a new node.

    A product that can't compete without subsidies is worthless. It doesn't get you foot in the door, it just burns cash. Look at the Lenovo k900 design "win". Basically, Intel paid Lenovo to put their chips in the phone, but as soon as the subsidies ran out Lenovo switched to a Qualcomm design.

    Intel are determined to sell 40 million of their tablet chips, but they certainly aren't going to make any profit, because of "contra revenue".

    I think we could see a new OpenGL renaissance, because of Steam OS and OpenGL ES being used in mobile games.
    I saw a post on the Unreal engine forums about how they intend to implement first class OpenGL support in the new engine. They really hate the way Microsoft tie DirectX updates with the OS. (You can see this post here -at very end: https://answers.unrealengine.c...)
    Also, consider OpenGL 4.4 has had Mantle like features since last year which will only come out in DirectX 12 in 2015.

    Similiarly there's no mention of a Tegra K1 SoC with LTE. I think this is a sign that Nvidia will shortly abandon the smartphone market. Without any CDMA, or TD-SCDMA in their modem support they can't sell in Chinese or American markets

    The console market is guaranteed cash in the bank, with no competition from any other player. There's few companies that have a deal like that.
    And the margin is quite good considering that Microsoft and Sony shared in development costs.

    That article for some reason ignores the last 2 quarters where AMD turned a profit. People have being saying AMD is finished for the last ten years, but yet it's still here.

    What does that have to do with it? i5-4670K and i7-4770R have same amount of L1, L2 and L3 cache

    The eDRAM simply makes the chip way too expensive.
    If you look at the price of i7 core 4770R: $358. It's an i7 but has only has 6 MB of cache (compared to the 8mb of the regular i7 4770). So basically, it's about the same value as a i5-4670K which cost $243. With the price difference you could buy a Radeon R7 260X, which will trash Iris Pro in performance.

    I've heard a discussion about the possiblity that the plane broke free of gravity and flew into space, because of the light weight composites used in the contruction of the plane (I swear I'm not making this up)

    I suspect that that won't work, because the entire disk become unreadable by the OS. I mean you can't even see the list of files
