I look on it a different way. For me Linux is Developer unfriendly. Because Linux makes things more difficult for the developer, this in turn, makes it more difficult for the user.
For instance, in Linux it's more difficult to make an installation program for your application, which means usually that the developer doesn't bother, just let the users build the application.
Also, there is no unified desktop, which means the developer has no function to "launch default browser", so the user has to manually specify the browser from the application.

You cannot make tables streach to bottom of page, because html, body {width: 100%} is not supported and I think you cannot use the target= attribute.
The only advantage that I can see is that you web page will have street cred (this is useful if you are selling web design services)

Very interesting artical. It also says that the IDL descriptions would be extreemly useful. If Microsoft was only concerned about sharing the source code then they would be happy to give these so called IDL descriptions.

"There is information that the Samba developers want to see: the IDL descriptions for remote procedure calls. These underpin tasks such as adding users, and adding quotas and shares, and Samba developers have successfully decoded them over the wire. But it's hard work.

"These IDL descriptions are *key* for providing interoperability with Microsoft clients," wrote the team in a submission to the EU commissioners earlier this year. "If these IDL descriptions were published, open and equal interoperability with Microsoft products would be greatly enhanced (although still not perfect)."

Allison says the Samba team has requested the IDL definitions from Microsoft annually, most recently at the 2001 CIFS conference, without success."

the dual core Pentium M will be different.

"For one thing, it will contain two cores, instead of the single core on current notebook chips. The two separate cores will also share a 2MB cache. Current dual-core desktop chips from Advanced Micro Devices and Intel come with similar sized caches, but each core accesses only 1MB of cache memory dedicated to it. The problem with that approach is that there is a lot of stuff not specified completely by the standards. A web page will look different in two different browsers, even if they are both compliant.
For instance, if you only test your web page with Firefox, there is a probablity that it will not look good in Opera, or Konqueror.
