mod it up! people say that modding ACs up is wasted karma, but when somebody spends all that time posting a VERY INFORMATIVE and true post, it deserves moderation points.
Moderation on slashdot was meant to show which posts were good/bad... not who gets Karma and who donsn't...
Conventional phone lines can handle huge amounts of bandwidth by operating in a frequency beyond that of human hearing. That's how DSL works. No reason video couldn't work using DSL or something similar
DSL suffers from range problems... and even that, the telco is pouring in power through the lines. With a receiver device, you won't be able to pump the energy required.

How many of your run Windows?
I don't. My system is M$-free-certified {shredding the windows folder with 40 rewrites and formatting three times oughtta get rid of it nicely, no?}.:)
Water-cooling is always an option. I'm planning to install a kit in my next computer... I can't stand fan noise.
Also, if P4 chips realize they're running too fast, they downclock themselves temporarily to offset the (potential) heat damage. Therefore, P4 chips running at a lower temperature with less cooling may be running at a lower clock speed than boasted.
I wouldn't buy _ANY_ cds if I had to buy them. The music's too crappy to warrant a $15 purchase.

Keyboards are good! I don't wanna see all those barely-smart-enough-to-go-online people that type at 1 wpm be able to talk normally on the internet :)
Also, you can't beat the clickety clack sound of the keyboard typing... yes it's sweet.
Also don't forget the occasional words that you speak that will end up in word recognition.
