I wasn't really a computer geek when I was a kid but I inherited one from someone in my family.
I did copy a few programs out of a book of prewritten programs. I guess it was a good learning experience when the programs didn't work when you made a typo or something.
Anyway, my point is the damn thing was a video game console to the rest of the world. you could buy game cartridges and play them on it. That's probably why someone in my family bought the C64 and that's probably the same reason you or someone in your family bought one too.
I do wish I had the C64 now though. It might be fun to code some programs on it.
Definately. 1984 was a literary Masterpiece.
I just finished reading it for the first time this week. Have you read any other books of his - like Animal Farm? OR would you recommend any other books - Not necisarily on the same theme as 1984. Just looking for a good read.
Ok, well I guess Fort McHenry didn't see any action in the Revolutionary war - but probably cause the Brits knew it was there and didn't want to mess with it.
It first played an important role in the war of 1812. Lookey Here: http://www.bcpl.net/~etowner/history.html
Hanging out in the Inner Harbor is alright for lunches and stuff
There's a Hard Rock and an ESPN Zone. The ESPN Zone there has a pretty awesome batting cage game.
- Fell's Point at night is much better. I could spend a couple nights of any vacation at Rex's Tavern. That place rules - literally hundereds of kinds of beer from all over the world to choose from.
You can catch an Oriels or a Ravens game pretty easily (more so for Baseball)
You can also visit Fort McHenry which was an important location for the Revolutionary War. I didn't get to go there last time I was there but next time I get to Baltimore I'm going for sure.
Why is dell evil? - I shall feed you Troll for the off chance that someone might actually read my post.
They have a huge personal computer market share. Almost everyone I know that is planning on buying a new computer professes that they are going to replace their Gateway / Compaq / HP with a Dell.
Almost everyone I know that has in fact purchased a computer in the last year - its been a dell. My company purchases Dell for every one of its new workstations. I'm in a training class for a different company right now (on lunch break) and I'm typing this on a Dell.
Dell computers use non standard parts. If you want to buy a new case for your PC innards - Good Luck! in fact if you want to do just about anything to modify or replace the components you're probably going to be S.O.L.
Just try and buy a Dell computer running anything but Windows - let me know how that goes.
And . . . worst of all, that Steven guy sucked and the Interns suck even more.
What kid in the US will mow lawns for $10? Are you nuts? Unless you have a tiny tiny yard you can expect to pay double that - minimum. Even to some kid.
Outsourcing your lawn to someone in India might actually cost that $1000 though
This would be more akin to using data about which cars are stolen most as marketing data about which cars are most desirable.
Or an even better analogy would be about which cars are copied in peer to peer sharing networks and then marketing data to the radio stations so they know what cars people want to hear.
Thanks for the link. It was a good article. I do realize that scientists occasionally f up and get themselves killed. However the comment I was replying to suggested that if they succeeded and did everything correctly they would die. I was saying that this wouldn't happen as they should anticipate risks under normal operation. I used the atom bomb example because the scientists of the Manhatten project knew what would happen under normal operations and were able to put themselves out of harm's way when appropriate.
You would think that the scientists working on it would have been able to anticipate any risks and put themselves out of harms way when they needed to. Did the scientists of the manhatten project blow themselves up when they invented the first atomic bomb? No - it was detonated when they were far away. Duh.
Hello children, I'm from IBM. Please enjoy the brand new Mainframe terminals we had installed at your workstation. You'll get to experience cutting-edge CICS Screens just like the ones used at the places your parents work. The skill you will gain doing data entry will be invaluable to you.
Those of you in the Computer programming classes will get to use your terminals to page through COBOL and Assembly Abends. We've installed a brand new OS/390 Mainframe and robotic tape library for your school. And to get you up to date with the rest of the business world we've given you a copy of DB2 Content Manager Enterprise Portal Information Integrator On Demand version 8.2 (Formerly called Business Information Portal for Enterprise DB2 Content Integration) Enjoy!
Do you know what the original quote was? I thought that it was from Futurama in the episode where the aliens came to earth looking for "MacNeal" (Ally MacBeal).
and I feel sorry for the girl who fell in the barbeque. As for the girl with the matches I'm sure she's a lovely one to take home to mom.

LINUX - GOOD
I agree with you. Far too many suffer from Multiple Sclerosis. Not sure what this linux thing is though.
I'm not so sure that doubleplus ungood should be one word.
I think You are correct about crimethought. I think it should be thoughtcrime - post back if you have some proof for either. Thanks.

Man, that must have sucked for any freshwater fish that might have inhabitated it.
Yeah, I know it was on an iceburg but why not? They have a huge personal computer market share. Almost everyone I know that is planning on buying a new computer professes that they are going to replace their Gateway / Compaq / HP with a Dell.

Which is why you see people mowing their own lawns. All I know is the neighborhood kids where I'm from wouldn't mow a modest lawn for less than $20.
There was a hack with a 007 James bond game that allowed Linux to be installed on the X-Box

Ahhhhhhhhh, you're not quite that much of a moron after all, are you? You get some kid to do it for you for $10.
Ok. That does it. This is about the worst analogy I've ever read.
Everyone here is now dumber for having read it.
I award you no points.
Funny stuff

Aren't ALL web languages generating code? HTML code that is.

If you have no connection to the network then your service provider is to blame. Hardware manufacturer has nothing to do with that.
Funny you say that. I bought a 3Com cable modem and my signal kept dropping. Then I replaced it with a Motorola and haven't had a problem since!
