    for the PDF's.. you can (well windows can) scan the interior of PDF's very well..

    at my office, to go paperless, we scan all receipts into pdfs with a very good scanner.

    when looking for a certain piece of paper, utility bill, invoice, receipt, govt filing.. we drill down to the last reasonable folder (sometimes we search the entire year's worth of stuff) and ask windows to look for key phrases in the file... and it does a great job..

    I can type in a specific dollar amount (one occasionn that worked perfectly) and get back a copy of a delivery slip, the invoice, and the bankstatement all based on typing in the dollar amount......

    likely, as a condition of entry, they also sign away rights to invention, or if not all rights, at least by entry give the DOD a perpetual license at no charge, and the DOD can then use all the best elements of the failures to improve on the winners product...

    actually, it will only require one.. a method for freezing water that doesn't cause it to expand.
    the biggest problem with cold storage of humans is ice expands when it freezes, bursting cells.
    the whole basis of ice-9 was finding a new arrangement of h20 so that it wanted to become a solid when it touched other cells.. but it was a different 'stack' of molecules.

    what if you could either 1-find a way to stack h20 so it stayed the same size (most things shrink when they freeze, water is an exception) or 2- find a substitute molecule that could replace the water in a human corpus... one that also doesn't expand when frozen....

    OK, the 1970s was known as the sexual revolution but I have a lot of arguments about this craziness. First, the demographics CBS is trying to reach by canceling Jericho - most weren't even born in the '70s yet! I was born in the early 70s and there is no way I could've been involved in any type of sexual revolution at the time!

    It lets me sync files across different directories.. and if it finds changes, it has an option to archive a copy of what was there before in a third directory, with a date/time stamp.

    you can set it to retain X# of copies, or for x# of days.. I have it set to automatically run on any change in the
    mydocs folder on my pc at work, or my pc at home.. if I open a file at home and modify it, I can rest easy knowing the chages will be there on my work pc the next day, and if I screw up, I can go to the archives...

    I can set the bandwidth limit so as to not drown out my point to point connection (the work connection is commercial account cable modem, and also supplies my workplace website)

    i.e. if you call me, and I live in a one party state, I can record the call, and that's not wiretapping.

    but rather, uploaded.. (an important point, complete leechers have not violated the law)
