To preface, I'm a christian.. I follow the 10 commandments, and yes I go to church on saturday (the real sabbath, sunday was just made up by the catholic church lol, another weird thing that people somehow believe is that jesus changed the day..uhhh-huhhh, riggghhttttt you find it for me..lol) ...but you know what you can find in the bible? "Though shalt not have sexual relations with your wife's sister while your wife is still living" (paraphrased but that's *exactly* what it says... seriously! and i'm not even taking that one outta context, there's a whole bunch of "sexual relations" verses in the bible, go search a concordance if you want more")

You can use quotes from the bible to prove ANYTHING... Just as a lot of people try to do to say sex before marriage is a sin. It says that NO WHERE in the bible.. NO WHERE!!! Also, there is NOTHING saying masturbation is a sin!......

everything people say there is out of context! The one text people try to use to say it's wrong is taken soooo out of context..god was angry because the guy didn't impregnate the woman, when god had specifically told him too..yeah, that might upset god. Masturbation isn't gonna upset god unless your looking at some 8 year old when your doing it or something. Why do you think god gave us sexual urges if he didn't want us to act on them. He put us here to enjoy life not to suffer. (please no flames if you dont believe in god or whatever, i'm just saying that alot of us are way off base sometimes when it comes to the bible)

As far as drugs/drinking etc, everyone tries to claim thats a huge sin. The reality is, it says no where in the bible that you cannot enjoy these thigns responsibly. It says not to be a drunkard (ie dont be an alcoholic or get wasted and puke all over yourself), and that you sholdn't have any other gods before you (addiction applies here 100%)...But tons of people in the bible drank responsibly, tons of god's followers...even jesus drank wine... And no i'm not saying this because I drink, haven't drank alchy since I was 15 lol...

What's really really great is you see all these people who preach that you can't have sex before marriage, masturbation is wrong, drugs are wrong, etc...GETTING DIVORCES.. Go read what the bible has to say about divorce someday (even what jesus had to say about it hahahaha, although he isn't so harsh on it as a lot of places in the bible!)... The bible is very very harsh on divorce. If ashcroft actually cared about doing right, he would not be worried about porn or drugs, he would be trying to establish marriage counseling centers accross the nation to help couples work through their differences and to prevent the high divorce rate from going up any further!)

People really have no idea what the bible actually says a lot of the time...

Not to make another reply right after my last one disagreeing with someone but... I dont really think barrier of entry has anything to do with it...(and yeah i'm just ranting here dont mod me up its off topic) Ease of installation...Windows being easier to install is a MYTH!!! IT'S NOT EASIER TO INSTALL WINDOWS!!! It's easier to install software on windows for the average user...(yes, i use debian, yes, apt-get is even easier, no, i dont think my mom would find it easier at this time. yes, once the synaptic gui improves more it'll blow windows away for desktop software installation by n00bs.) But I mean, SuSe, Mandrake, etc, are easier to install than windows. So joe user brings home an old copy of 2k that he got to upgrade that old 98 that they have on their 1998 compaq. Joe has a cable modem. He pops the disc in, boots, installs, no problem. Right from the get-go he starts getting messenger spam! He's confused, he calls a friend who tells him how to turn the messenger off (why was it on by default?). Fortunately joe's video card was detected so it's not in 16 color mode! But there's another problem. Joe hears about a security update he needs to stop the blaster worm. Problem is the worm had already infected his computer. In order to get the patch, he needs to go to the windows update site, but he can't get there because his computer keeps shutting down. So he figures out that he can set the date back (common sense or a nerdy friend maybe)! But windows update still wont work, because RPC is crashed and windows update needed it to install the patch (to joe, his computer is just broken, he doesn't know what's going on). What the hell does he do. Our user is VERY confused. So Joe installs a copy of linux instead because he heard it was "better" and his nerd friend gave it to him for free and its even LEGAL to get it for free..this AMAZES JOE! He puts the cd in the drive and powers his computer on...His distribution, right in the install, detects his cable modem and at the end before the install even finishes, connects him up and downloads the latest security stuff!!! Amazing! All he needed to do was type his name, what he wanted his computer's name to be, and what he wanted to do on his computer (joe wanted to do word processing, and graphics and games sounded interesting too...joe left the rest alone)...Setup tells joe to make his own account, he thinks this is neat. The install is done, he reboots. He types in his username (neat, he's loggin into his own computer, he's never seen anything actually secure before, win98 you could just press cancel!)... He sees a desktop, with icons for the web, and a word processor. What has a higher barrier of entry there? Installation is something linux is better at than windows, it's NOT EVEN CLOSE...I'd compare installing linux to installing mac os 7 on an old machine. It just works. Unless you have some weird homebuilt setup with odd hardware (and Joe user WILL NOT HAVE ANY), you don't even need to install any drivers for anything. Compare that with Windows 2000 (maybe xp is better, I saw no reason to buy xp so I use 2k for my everquest needs, no, it does not run under winex): Windows installs. Unplug the net connection and install some security updates that I downloaded in linux. Plug network cable back in. Cry at 16 color desktop. Get nvidia drivers. Wonder why sound is messed up. Get new sound drivers. Not all the agp features are working..what! Get via 4-in-1's. (once set up, win2k is the best version of windows by far imho, i like it actually..just dont say installing it is easier than linux)... To be fair, in debian (not known for being easy to install) my nvidia card was not configured for opengl. Course, to be fair to linux, the install was every bit as easy as installing the graphics drivers in windows. Download them off nvidia's site, run program...yay... (Yes, i know nerd-centered distros like debian, gentoo, etc, are harder, and yes I run debian on my machine, and have experienced installing red hat, mandrake, and suse).

And neither is scanning a bill in and printing it out, then printing some propaganda on the other side, and leaving it places, so people will pick it up thinking its a real bill. Or making funny alterations (such as the sex dollar bill)...There's reasons to scan in money that don't involve counterfeiting. I know, I've scanned in money before for the above reasons. I would have been very annoyed if the software wouldn't let me scan it in. But know what, that wouldn't have stopped me, I woulda just scanned it into some crappy software then imported it into photoshop or psp.

Face it, maybe .01% of all the counterfeiting going on is done on some little inkjet by some guy using photoshop. This isn't going to stop *anything important*. This is just some feel-good measure, and THATS ALL IT IS.

Now, the scary thing is, what do you wanna be that these "image recognition" techniques are being patented, marketed, and sold. Imagine not being able to scan in somethign from a magazine or book because it has a code on it marking it as copyrighted. After all, if you were going to scan it in, you were *obviously* going to do something bad, like make an illegal copy! Sure, but they are providing a valuable service, and I was even able to get a loan from them (high interest, but not ridiculous, something like 10%) even though I DONT HAVE A JOB. At my other bank, I got a call from them one morning, saying I had over-drawn my account. They went ahead and PAID THE CHECK that i'd written, and no the money didn't come out of another account, it came out of the banks pocket, they told me I could come and pay them back as soon as I could, but they'd done this as a convenience for me because I'd been a member for a long time and it was just a mistake. If banks were like the RIAA then I'd hafta pay them for the convenience and safety of storing my money in an account, they would insist that all my money go into their bank account, and I would hafta have an "exclusive contract" to only bank with them I couldn't shop arround for someone who would have better rates, etc...
