given how bad writing native apps for Android currently is
How bad is it, and what's so bad about it?
I'm an Android (and other platform) developer, and don't really see much difference in difficulty writing for any of the current main mobile OSs.
I don't consider myself particularly highly skilled, but I make a living, and even absolute beginners can block out surprisingly complete software with App Inventor.
That's about the geographical market, not about the platform. Android's early popularity stemmed from regions like China where Apple is also finding difficulty in selling apps.
China has its own Macworld/iWorld conference and plenty of iPhone fever, but the paid-download app market appears to still be maturing there. A new report from Shanghai-based analyst firm Stenvall Skoeld claims that the Chinese version of the iOS App Store accounted for 18 percent of total downloads in the second quarter, but just 3 percent of revenue.
China is Apple's fastest growing market, while Android is growing faster in regions with a strong history of paid software purchases. The most recent App Annie data suggests revenue/app for Android is rising, while the equivalent for Apple is falling. In other words, markets are normalising as you'd expect them to.
Enjoy the iOS income while you can, but don't get dependent on it.
Personally I think their lower pricing for Windows 8 should be considered along the lines of dumping already.
The marginal cost of an operating system is zero. Competition is pushing OS prices down to that point. That's the way capitalism is supposed to work, and hasn't for the past few decades.
Actually, in the patent game, both sides get to increase their cost-to-customer as well as barriers to market entry for small players and startups. For big companies, patent wars are a win, which is why they so willingly participate.
As you probably know, since you're quoting the bug report, the Mallit keyboard from Meego (which has very good word completion) is already available in KDE Plasma Active, and is being ported to KDE desktop.
The onscreen keyboard is a low priority for KDE desktop, because it's a desktop OS, not one intended for tablets. When W7 was released, Microsoft had no real tablet OS, so they've had to shoehorn the two interfaces together. Hence the predictive onscreen keyboard in their primary desktop UI. KDE is a bit more versatile.
It's wonderful that you love Windows 7 so much - perhaps you should stick with it and leave Linux to those of us who enjoy using it? Learning a new tool can be challenging for anybody. You can check back in occasionally to see if it has stopped "sucking".
Or just pay attention to what's happening in the rest of the world:
"Rather than blowing into a breathalyser, drivers will be asked to provide a saliva sample by placing a small absorbent pad on their tongue for a few seconds. The Securetec Drugwipe II Twin device is supposed to take about five minutes." (In Victoria, another test is mentioned in the enabling legislation, called Cozart RapiScan.)
"Saliva testing only shows up marijuana usage in the last four to five hours, but 24 hours for all the other drugs, including amphetamines (speed), opiates (heroin, morphine, codeine), cocaine, benzodiazepine (valium and so on) and THC (cannabis). The advantages of saliva over urine testing are the speed of obtaining results (10 minutes versus several days) and it is less invasive.
Gilad Sharon, the son of former Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon, has called for Israel to 'flatten' Gaza as the US flattened the Japanese city of Hiroshima in 1945 with an atomic bomb.
Writing in The Jerusalem Post Sharon, an activist for the opposition Kadima party, said: “The residents of Gaza are not innocent, they elected Hamas. The Gazans aren’t hostages; they chose this freely, and must live with the consequences.
"We need to flatten entire neighborhoods in Gaza. Flatten all of Gaza. The Americans didn’t stop with Hiroshima – the Japanese weren’t surrendering fast enough, so they hit Nagasaki, too.
"There should be no electricity in Gaza, no gasoline or moving vehicles, nothing.
But if you are reasonable you will also acknowledge what I said, that the Israelis are taking great pains to avoid killing children.

In 2012, Breaking the Silence, an organization founded by former Israeli soldiers whose purpose is to expose alleged abuses committed by the Israeli Defence Forces released a booklet of witness reports written by more than 30 former Israeli soldiers. These reports document of Palestinian children being beaten, intimidated, humiliated, verbally abused and injured by Israeli soldiers. [59] Breaking the Silence is controversial and has been criticized for failing to provide evidence for its claims

Lower prices are a good thing.
Interesting trolling effort, but why would you pretend this is a bad thing?
It gives distros a way to differentiate themselves (as Mint has done), keeps overhead to a minimum, allows power users almost unlimited customisation.
In many ways, it's the best of both worlds. Configurable and simple.
Additionally and to add to the absurdity of the CIAPC response:
Indeed upon hearing about the situation Chisu apologized to the 9-year-old and pointed to a link on Spotify where her music can be played for free"

For their customers, on the other hand...
Now it looks like Samsung gets to see the whole document "without delay" now that the judge has ordered it.
The good news is that Apple can give Samsung the original document, and they'll just copy it.

Actually, a real nerd starts with a butterfly. They open their hands and let the delicate wings flap once...
Roasting the butterfly afterwards is optional.
Windows 7 onscreen keyboard is great...Linux alternatives, suck.
That's a fairly clear preference you've expressed.
If you genuinely want to use Linux, you can install the Plasma Active version of Kubuntu and have your predictive keyboard.

Yes, but you can run Plasma Active on a desktop computer with a touchpad.
It's simple to try, just test with the USB version, then install if you like it. KUbuntu has a good remix.

Please be more specific. What do you desire from Firefox memory management?
Passenger pigeons did.
Good god, what have you done?
Have you forgotten Rule 34?
1477 children dead "have zero relevance to the case I made - because they are isolated and you have not provided context".
I'm sure they will be relieved to hear that.
I'm planning on bypassing the civet cats and just doing the job myself.
Any takers for beta-testing?
Stop emoting about the issue and start thinking, ffs.
I've expressed no opinions, just copied and pasted facts which do not support your claim.
You're arguing with reality, not with me.
You're not really from New Zealand.
It is sad that a person like yourself falls for this propaganda.

Please try to believe me when I say this, but the iPhone is a must-have gadget in China.
The hipster phone in China right now is the Galaxy Note/Note2. You see them everywhere.
iPhones are for old people.
