4 GB of ram on die (chuckle)
4 GB of cache on die (riotous laughter)
And no one would ever need more the 640k, and the total market for computers in the world is under 10... Give it time, and it will happen. I had computers where the ram was smaller than todays CPU cache. Many, actually
At some point there will have to be a decision on where an "Internet company" really is. You simply can not be subject to all the laws of all the places on the Internet.
Only a solution to "How do I get this running" and not "What is this thing doing?" The lack of source is a bit offputting to me. I will look at it, but I may wait to roll it out.
Don't be a whore ?, remember when people put things on the Web out of passion not greed ?
Ahh... The grand old days of geocities! Those were the days... Wait a minute... Most of those pages sucked! Of course most pages today suck! So when were the good days again?
All this over a blog that never got off the ground? How biased was it going to be? And exactly who is unbiased? Much better to have a knee jerk reaction and quit, then to stay and present an opposing viewpoint, if one is needed.
That is what I love so much about Linux... There is only one solution. Just forget rsnapshot, rdiff-backup, next3, r1soft and remoteshadow, also mentioned here. While LVM may be the best for some situations, it is NOT the best for everyone, myself included.
The fact that you said this shows you spend way to much time on slashdot. The fact that I recognized it, and was one of the first posters in the thread you refer to says the same about me. I wonder if I can find a life for sale on craigslist?

Thank You! Remember when they used to be called SCCs for "Small, Cheap Computer"? Now they are less small, less cheap... Also, they boot a whole lot slower with the 160gig drive than they do with a 8gig flash. So in the quest for "performance" they gave up performance as well.
La Quinta is always free. Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express, are almost always free. Choice Hotels (Comfort Inn/Suites, Quality Inn/Suites, Econo Lodge) are almost always free.
I have been using Ubuntu 10.04 since alpha and will have to say that it has been rock solid.
Up until the last 2 weeks, I would agree with you. What is it about the rush to a deadline that makes them go crazy and try to shove half baked stuff in?
The main reason to upgrade is when %your_application% needs to be upgraded to get a new feature, or bug fixed. And the most stable times to upgrade are either early in the beta, or a month after release. For some reason, close to release (on either side of the date) is the most unstable of times.

I'm talking about encryption you idiot.
This one aught to be interesting when it comes up for meta-moderation... Makes a nice sig too.
Virtual machine?

An analogy I often use is; "A good way to secure a car is to remove the wheels and put it up on blocks. It just doesn't make a very good car..."
Sometimes the people get it...
It doesn't need to be good, it just has to look good. It's all security theater and marketing.

You would think after the write cycles were exceeded the chips would be more or less read-only instead of 'dead.'
Am I mistaken on this presumption?
Yep. When it dies, you can still write. It is just what you write won't be right. :) Hence the verify part of the test.
Do what you enjoy first, and the money will come. (For example, it may just be marketing cheaper ways to do an expensive hobby) If you chase the money first, you can forget the enjoyment. Also, you may want to read http://www.amazon.com/No-More-Mondays-Yourself-Revolutionary/dp/0385522525
Also, local TV is free, and works when the Internet is congested. Pay-TV, on the other had, is screwed.
Who knows, but if you thought the lines were long now... On most geek laptops, this could take a while.
But look on the bright side. Jersey Shore can now have crude oil wrestling!

You do realise that the feature freeze happened on the 17th February?
And you realize that the big X memory leak mess happened after that, right? Just as an example...

Pick your brand carefully.
HP already has a line of smartphones running Windows Mobile which they bought off Compaq. I have one in my pocket.
Damn! I though you were happy to see me.
Ubuntu has become a platform to generate revenue for canonical:
Ubuntu Music Shop Ubuntu Software Store Search Deal with Yahoo/Google
Become? They have always had a business model. If making money is a crime, quite your job. And the search deal with Yahoo fell through.

Actually, it moves them globally. Or it did. It was bugged. I have not tested to see if it is fixed.
Not as of last night...
.... to the right side of the window title bar where they belong? If it's not possible, I will not budge from 9.10 thank you very much.
