But they don't sell it to you, they "license" it. And if they keep saying it, it will be true. Just like me having a replica of something you also still have is "stealing" it from you when you still have it.
Nevermind, it seems that the lovable DRM within the raw video file ties the video to the player. Oh well, on to other solutions...
So I'm assuming the $9/month is too expensive for you? Ask you mom if to raise your allowance the next time you ask permission to use the computer.
Netflix:
Low selection.
Skips and jumps.
Low definition.
Tied to one player.
Not cross platform
Pirate Bay:
Giant selection.
Plays smooth.
Up to 1080p.
Plays on most players.
Cross platform.
Yep, it's all about the money... Until people realize that this is just not true, they will never fix the real problem.
The real reason for this change is that there are tools that rip the old Windows Media stream and let you save the instant movies on your computer. So far I haven't seen a similar tool for the Silverlight streams.
True. Most things are secure for a day or two... But once it is a big enough target for people to care...
Why is everyone going backwards? I am setting up an open wifi, but blocking inet access for everyone but me. That way every iPhone that walks by, and half my neighbors will be logged. Get out of jail free card for me!
I foresee a new breed of download revenue agents. This would inspire a group of people to increase the performance of the Internet connections to stay ahead. Soon after the pirates would compete, and 20 years later, Geek NASCAR!
The open source health management stack that runs on the open source GT.M, it is called VistA. It is used by many healthcare providers here in the US and Mexico.
Would adding a link have killed ya? http://worldvista.org/ I mean you don't want readers to have to google it for themselves, do you?
This brings up another point. If you have to "break" a law just to play your purchased music and DVDs, and you are all ready punished for "breaking" other laws (bit torrent of Ubuntu iso's throttled) it really isn't much of a stretch to just say fuckit and dive all in.
I use both iTunes and Emusic. Neither are painful.
My car stereo plays mp3s. But not acc... I can convert, kinda, in this big bloated app that trys to install a browser if I don't watch for it. (In Windows)
Non apple music players... Nuff said.
I do run linux...
But the best one is I like older music. I can find all the obscure 90s techno on TPB, and not much on iTunes. I can get it in a big chunk, and it will work in ALL my players. It will never expire.
Notice how none of these advantages mention price...
But it is getting better. If you use a selection of legal sources, and have the tools to convert media formats, and you are allowed to by the license that no body reads or is likely to understand, you can almost get close to what the pirates have had for years.
Is there anything the RIAA can do to reduce illegal file-sharing without generating massive amounts of bad publicity?
Make a system that is as easy as thepiratebay and has as much stuff. Now it is convenience that is killing them. The Free part doesn't hurt, but it also doesn't help as much as the fact that the legal options are as painful as a root canal.
[qoute=TFA]But he is just one of a growing number of people being investigated and charged under Thailand's draconian "lese-majeste" law, as the police and army try to suppress what they fear is a rising tide of anti-monarchy sentiment.[/qoute]
Rising tide? I think the wave is about to crest...
Apparently there was a grow op going on in my parents' neighbourhood last year or so. They said they heard the SWAT teams going in at 6am one morning and arresting people right and left.
Now the issue of the criminality of marijuana is a different one entirely, but yeah...
As an AT&T subscriber, this makes me rather annoyed with them, that they would capitulate to such thugs as the RIAA. We left Comcast, among other things, since AT&T had better service and didn't act like bastards... but it looks like that's changing.
Oh well, guess I'd better be more careful with my torrent activity.
There is essentially no difference between them. They just take turns being hated for the latest stupid move.
is no one interested in VIA's most recent offering here in this market. From what I've read it's a much better solution than the Intel Atom.. Does anyone make a system with the VIA processors though? I haven't seen any.
Kinda funny. Via is getting more buzz with C3 and Eden. Intel is getting lots of buzz with Atom. AMD is giving up the market... I want a CEO job so I can go to work drunk too...

I tried that with my car purchase but the government just subsidized them anyway.
+5 Funny? God I WISH it was a joke!

It could have been a pun... Roars like a lion. Fights like a mouse... :)

How about VPNs? With ddwrt having site to site VPN built in, you can tie your media collection with a few friends, and share everything securely.
They used to be kind of squirrely, and WiFi was just so much better. But with the explosion of interference, it might be time to look again.
Kinda the point... "Bail" should be equally difficult for different people.
"He's been in jail for seven months now,...
I love our entire "Innocent until proven guilty" thing. Unless you are on the wrong side of the celebrity wagon. I bet Paris would be out by now...

It will take that long for our legislators to actually read the damn thing.
Read? They don't need to read... They didn't read this bill before passing it.
Well, define "health technology" but VistA (not MS) comes to mind. http://worldvista.org/
Remember Sony?
Unfortunately, for most people the answer is no... For me it is which time? The CD-ROM Trojan, or the secure thumb drive Trojan?

Or the Bean Free Library. http://www.baen.com/library/ Also a good place for authors starting out.
Yeah, yeah... Dyslexics of the world, UNTIE!
