  1. Duo on Dell's 'Dual Personality' Laptop · · Score: 0

I know "Duo" refers to being both a tablet and a netbook, but I feel like it's an intentional reference to Intel's Core Duo processors. I don't think it's right to imply that connection if you're going to use an Atom processor. That said, I find myself interested.

Unfortunately, the article is devoid of details. What kind of battery life can we expect? Will it run WIndows 7 or Android maybe? Both? How much will it cost?

These people must be ostracized and made to feel their fabulous stupidity. If I ever encountered one of these people in real life, I would have to call them an idiot. The best part is that they associated this information with their facebook profiles.

I bet all of them have weak passwords, too.

The verb "to be" is almost always irregular in any language. English certainly is inconsistent (all languages are), but citing the irregular nature of "to be" isn't particularly good example.

Here's what all that looks like in German:

    ich war/bin/werde sein
    du warst/bist/wirst sein
    er war/ist/wird sein
    wir waren/sind/werden sein
    ihr wart/seid/werdet sein
    sie waren/sind/werden sein

Actually, data isn't a collective noun like Aerosmith. Aerosmith isn't the plural of anything, but data is the plural of datum. Saying "the data is..." is simply inconsistent. I would say incorrect, but everyone over here does it. The language evolves I guess.

I think the vendors that constantly have buggy initial releases are the same consistently.

EA? I expect a buggy release or a release that doesn't run well or at all.

Blizzard? Mostly ships pretty functional games or expansions these days. Blizzard has enough money and enough of a following that they don't have to shove software out before it's ready. Their recent betas seem to have fewer bugs than other studios' releases.

In Minnesota (and almost all of the United States) the public transportation is so poor that most people would be unable to function without driving. They would quickly lose their job and become homeless. This certainly isn't true for many cities, but it is especially true for the rural population.

The unfortunate result is that our society has become much more relaxed about drunk driving.

I didn't read that passage as being racist at all. The author was clearly talking about increasing diversity in games and how the standard space-marine character pushes against that. Do not confuse the lack of diversity with racism. They are very different things.

Incidentally, how exactly can you interpret Mozart's 5th symphony to be racist? Is there something abut B flat I don't know? Do you object to the thin orchestration?

  25. Re:Gay Blogger on EA Comes Under Fire for Shady PR Stunts · · Score: 1

A gay gamer (or any form of entertainment) site can offer a different perspective on a few important issues that are probably more important to the LGBT community.

    1) How does the game/movie/etc handle sexuality? Is it presented that heterosexuality is the only way?

    2) How does the piece of entertainment treat gay characters? Is there a gay stereotype that gets repeatedly mocked? Is there a realistic but gay character?

So yes, a game that a heterosexual teenager might find awesome could be injected with enough homophobia that a gay teenager might find it completely offensive.
