Similar thing happend to my father-in-law. Was on Adkins for 9 months and was close to kidney failure.
Many doctors and nurses I know have said the same thing; Adkins will do terrible things to your heart and kidneys.
And Sharp recently released the 3.10 ROM for the 5500 that gives it the same updated software (PIM, Opera, Kernel, etc..) as found in the 5600, for FREE!
I hate to defend the Senator's website after the comments he made. But I do feel it necessary to point out that his website doesn't appear to be in violation. If you actually go to his site and view the source...

This is Senator Hatch's personal website, I don't think it's a commercial or corporate site. Granted, he's a senator and this site might be a way for people to donate money, but it's not technically a commercial site.
Why pay Microsoft/HP cash for the OS license just to reflash it with Linux?
I've been happily using my Sharp Zaurus 5500 for months. Sharp also just released a major software revision for the 5500 based on the new 5600 software and it's improved the Zaurus quite a bit. Oh yeah, and the upgrade was free - unlike the $29.99 I spent to upgrade my iPAQ 3630 from PPC2000 to PPC2002.
Since the iPAQ was more popular than the Jornada, HP decided to stick with the iPAQ line and drop the Jornada saying that they would merge the best features from both.
While they didn't take much from the Jornada, one big thing they *did* graft into the iPAQ line is the removable battery. Compaq iPAQ's had sealed battery compartments, Jornada's always had removable batteries. All new iPAQ's have removable batteries.
I can imagine that it only takes one more small step to swap out the pacemaker/monitoring hardware for a small explosive device.
Step outside your "allowable area" and *POOF*, your chest explodes. Of course, it's the who defines the "allowable area" that worries me...
What difference does it make?

In a few years we'll all be swiping plastic or leaving a thumbprint/retinal scan and the funds debited out of our account automatically.
I was YACN (Yet Another Computer Nerd) in high school and was VP of the Computer Club my junior and senior year. We were mainly left alone by the rest of the student body, with the extreme notable exception of one of our fund raisers.
A bunch of friends re-started the defunct club my sophmore year and somebody said that we needed to raise some cash for club activities (pizza). Our teacher-leader had written a computerized dating program some years back and we took it out and went through the code, made some changes, learned how it worked and then had a fund raiser. Handed out 1000 flyers with 20 or 30 questions for free to all the students, and charged $.50 or something to get your top match, $1 to get you top three matches, and maybe $2 for your top 10 matches. We made a couple hundred bucks and had a lot of fun matching ourselves up to the cheerleaders...
Is anyone actually so lazy that they can't set a timer to engage their microwave/oven?
At first I thought they actually were making an "anti-microwave" oven - a device that cools food quickly. I haven't a clue how the technology would work, but it would be almost as revolutionary to cooking as the microwave was.
If it's a cooled oven you're after, Whirlpool beat them too the punch. Available now, and I think it's around $2400...

Four months ago I bought a 80GB 7200 RPM UDMA Western Digital drive at Best Buy. It was $109 purchase price, but came with a $10 instant rebate and a $25 mail in rebate. I received the rebate check about a month later, bringing the purchase price to $74 plus tax. I have seen similar deals (though not quite as good) since then.
"Only this much: There are 250 Million blank CDRs and tapes bought and used this year for copying music in comparison to 213 Million prerecorded audio media. This means the owners are only being paid for 46 per cent of the musical content. For a comparison: In 1998 almost 90% of all audio media was paid for. "
How do they know that these 250 million CDRs are used for copying music? And besides, I'm allowed to make a copy of music I already own. Just because I burn a CDR of music doesn't necessarily mean that I don't own the music that's on it.
Seeing the name and song is cool. But my 4 year old Kenwood CD player in my car does this on the CD's that I burn with CD Text enabled. Lots of other players can do this too now.
And, if they kept up with RDS regular radio stations could have this too. But alas, it seems RDS is dying...:-(
So in 8 years of progress Palm has gone from a 1MB Palm Professional with a backlight, a strange input character set, Notes, Calendar, To-Do, Appointments and Expense. To a 2MB Palm Zire with no backlight, same strange input character set, Notes, Calendar, To-Do, Appointments, and Expense.
It's no great wonder that Palm Inc. is dying a slow death.

So we've found the worms, now where's Spock?

Ah, that was the old "Keep the Hot side Hot. Keep the Cool side Cool" add campaign, right? Ahh, memories from the 80's.
ThinkGeek has a long tradition of April Fools' jokes. Look at the other stuff on their front page - it's absolutely a joke.
And you actually own a credit card that DOESN'T have 100% online fraud protection??!?
Too bad that in the 24th century they *still* haven't figured out that backups are important.

Technically, a Hummer *is* a Chevy, since GM now owns Hummer.
That's Macrovision at work. Go buy a $20 RF Modulator and your problem will go away.
NetMD issue sucks - I own a NetMD player as well...

Because it's hard to play a hard drive in a DVD player.
