I remember when I got my first 9600 baud modem, an upgrade from 2400 baud. It was a Racal-Milgo-- a big beastie. I had it hooked up to my Apple IIgs, and for some reason, I could only get 4800 baud.

I used an Apple IIgs as my main computer until 1996. It had a 40 meg Vulcan hard disk, a ZipGS accellerator and 4 megs..
I had an external Zoom 14.4 attached to it, and I was able to use it at full speed..

GS/OS was a great OS. I had jpeg decoders, Moria, and I played with GNO/ME.. The terminal that I used was ANSITerm.. I think it was by PMP.. IBM Ansi graphics on an Apple II.. It was great... And nothing beats Appleworks to this day... That's something for another story..

Awww, something else for the RIAA to whine about.

Ya know, this shit gets old. I wish I could blame somebody else when I make less money than I would like. If something doesn't turn out the way I want, it has to be the fault of someone else.

Fuck the RIAA. You cocksuckers are a bunch of whiney-ass motherfuckers. Get down on my dick while I rape your shit off usenet. There is no reason to pay for anything anymore, especially music and movies. Why should I finance the war on fair use?

If I deprive the artists of the $0.10 that they might have made had I bought their cd, well that's a fucking dime. They make money when they tour. It is worth more to deprive the Media Mafia of their ill-gotten gains.

I used to buy a lot of music. Now I just don't give a shit.

Fuck the RIAA, fuck your bought-off legislators, and while you bitches are at it suck my dick.

Anything that goes to help out the smaller guys is a good thing. After all, the big guys gobble the little ones up, and then give crappy service for an ever increasing price.

Perhaps this will let these beloved little IPSs survive just a little bit longer.

Anything to keep the internet how it should be is a good idea, and it is nice to see the Aussie gov't protecting capitolism by leveling the playing field. After all, more compeition = better experience for every consumer.

Not only a better experience, but also better prices. Usually if there are only a few competitors in a market, the prices for that good/service will be very similar. A good example of this is gas. No matter who you get your internet service from its the same internet. Anybody that wants to should have a chance to compete in that market.

I really wish I could get a scsi version of this. Internal or external, external would be a lot easier, but some kind of internal addon board would be really good. I don't want to start an ide/scsi debate, but if I had data that was so important it needs that kind of security I would spend more than $200 on the drive.

Applied Engineering is what made all that possible. If i remember correctly, apple's memory expansion cards topped out at 2.5 megs. If you had an applied engineering card, you could go all the way to 8 megs.

In order to play wolf 3d or lemmings, you pretty much needed to have either a transwarp gs (applied engineering) or a Zip GS (forgot who made it). I think that the transwarp was 7 mhz. I know the zipgs is 9. This is from a stock clock of i think 3 mhz.

There were a lot of companies that made hard drives. I had an AE vulcan 40 meg. You rip out your power supply and drop that in. The drive is contained in it.

That machine was a lot of fun. I think i will power it up and play crystal quest.

  14. this is great... on DivX DVD Players Arrive · · Score: 1

But what about support for DIV3, the Microsoft hack? I would have to bet that most downloaded content is compressed with this codec, although Xvid is gaining popularity. I know that these players are going to get the most use from playing downloaded content. Some people will record tv shows and compress them. Someone is going to have to find a way to convert div3 to iso mpeg4. This can already be done by transcoding, but it would be really cool if it could be done losslessly. How far away is Microsoft Mpeg4 from iso mpeg 4?
