I agree the prius 2004 looks nice. But I have one question about it. Whats the maximum speed on it? I plan to drive everyday at around 75 mph. Can it handle that kind of speed? (and still be economic?)
So If I owe $12,000 in taxes, does that mean I only have to pay $10,000? Or is the deduction on you income (in which case the real money you save is 30% of $2,000)?
I have more than 3000 MP3s, most of which LEGALLY MADE from CDs I borrowed from the library
On average if a song on a CD cost $1.00, you spent $3,000!. Wow... don't you wish you could have spent all that on a Plasma TV (or whatever cool gadget you like) ?
It is hard to believe that/. editors couldn't even be bothered to scroll through the entire download page to see that there is still a link for the fee codec.
Do you think this will effect 90% people using DivX? I certainly don't.
People uinsg DivX for watching movies are already freeloaders and guess what? they can also find full version of DivX codec without paying a penny. Bring on the warez!
I open up 'My computer' and -boom-! explorer.exe just halts while it pulls who knows WHAT back from these systems just to let me know that drives G-L are still working. I still have no idea what it's doing.
Get TweakUI which lets you shut off any mapped drives to show up in My Computer. This should solve the delay problem.
This is a surprise. I see it as a bad move on part of AOL. It has already embraced Mozilla (gecko), It has already put forth a lot of resources to support this group.
I see no reason why AOL would move to Internet explorer after mozilla has already proved itself worthy.
I agree with you. The company has spent a lot of resouces on.NET (slashdot ads come to mind). And it will definately be using.NET technology for years to come.
But the real question this article is trying to address is How useful is.NET to end-users (not the company itself). Is.NET so cryptic that the only user is the company who made it? (and a few non-significant others)
Look at apple's inovations for example. Apple made Rendezvous, but it is being used by both the company and the osx software developers. It is also being adapted by hardware companies who built the technology in to their devices.
by Heinlein was one of the first ScFi stories I ever read!
Glad to see it coming to fruition!
Ditto, Although I have not read the book -- this is certainly a major acheivement in the field of trasportation.
Cars should be a thing of past. Think about this: If everyone moved at the same exact speed there would be no accidents. Certainly this travelator uses this principle, but falls a little behind (and thus has to be restricted to certain speeds).
Instead of walking/standing, imagine your personalized bubble (read: no need to keep your feet on ground), being accelerated in to a fast moving pathway (ofcourse motion being calculated in such a way that there will be no collision when entering the fast pathway).
Quartz Extreme's minimum requirement is a video card with atleast 16 MB of video memory. Recommended video memory is 32 MB (even the current low-end $999 iBook has that).
Not entirely, seems like apple has made another mistake and this time it has "NOT" updated the spec image. Check out the power mac g5 page on the apple store: here
Almost looks like a scene from Austin Powers 4: Attack of the Mini' Me's

I would disagree. A hybrid car can save money in some other ways too:

Err... You must be new here.

I know what subpeonas are, but what do they require to do if you received one?
How much would you say you would loose (in dollar amount) when served with a subpeona?
Well your post stems the obvious question: Will the DVD players like these support encryption (so as to please copyright holders)?
I can see the designer of this device going "Damn you slashdotters!".
:-)

I assume you write instructions to be followed by the RIAA associate. If she initiates an upload, isn't she comitting a crime too ?

This is what I would like to see come into life.
Think about this: If all vehicles were to travel at the exact speed and in the same direction, there would be no accidents at all.

My experience with half.com sellers has been wonderfull till now.
even better: (add to .htaccess file to your codebase directory)
php_flag register_globals On
Don't know why.
It still says "Dual PowerPC G4" etc...
All the laptop bets seem believable since Apple has claimed that 2003 is the "year of the laptop".
