  1. Re:Backing Away? on Apple Backing Away From FireWire · · Score: 1
You are wrong. Apple has always included a mouse with every desktop Mac ever built (until the mini). They stopped including keyboards for a while when there was a choice between the Apple Standard and the Apple Extended keyboard.

Things got bad when Apple released the Performas. It was then that Apple started including crappy keyboards...

I still use my Extended II keyboard today (via iMate ADB-to-USB adapter) and will continue to do so until it brakes - if ever.

I don't think the increased heat poses the major risk of the upgrade. Rather the tinyness of the jumpers you're supposed to desolder seems crucial to miny. Compared to the Mac mini an Xbox is an easy solder job - and still tons of dead units appeared at ebay when the modding started.

You're right! Why get a 30" stationary display when you can have a 30" Powerbook?

That's not bad at all. You really don't want to buy the first generation of an Apple product. Remember the first Powerbook G3? Or the first Powerbook G4?
See, you want something like those current Powerbooks which are thoroughly tested.

An early release of Tiger would definately rock, since that could mean it would be usable by the beginning of autumn. When it reaches 10.4.3 it should be ready.
